Time to call up AT&T. The internet is just garbage at my grandmothers, and it looks like I'll be living here another 3 months and I really can't stand it. I heard if you call them and tell them you're going to switch to another provider they'll do pretty much anything to get you to stay with them.

i would love to do this with comcast, but i don't actually have a choice in providers! moving in a couple months though, so hopefully i can find an apartment that verizon serves. i want fios so bad ...

yeah, I'm planning to move up to Oregon with my mother, sisters, and girlfriend here pretty soon. A town called Sandy, just on the border of Portland, recently got the 1gbps fiber setup. I'm pushing pretty hard for that haha.

unfortunately it looks like the place we kinda have scoped out is gonna be a little more farther out. Some kinda property with two units on it, but damn, its so much cheaper than California.

oh looks like fios isn't anywhere in co at all ... why does the us suck so much lol

looks like I might just switch over to comcast tbh. They offer a good cable deal, 6mbps for $29/m ($49/m after the first 12 mos), and since I want to use my own modem anyway it'll be pretty cheap.

holy shit ahaha this is dope

I just got the G600 last night from Best Buy for $35, feels great and it's nice having 12 buttons on the side, but this russian dude with a 3D printer took it to a new level.

also Game Grumps are pretty good, but those are even more hit-or-miss with people (and I'm sure it's safe to say I'm probably the only one here who enjoys them).

When Dan Avidan plays games though, he really knows how to run the show. He's like 36 and really fucking good at NES/SNES games. His playthrough of Zelda II was what originally got me into trying it myself.

That's the biggest travesty about the Grumps right now: Arin is not even close to as fun as Dan to watch play games, but he's by far the stronger personality, so the better entertainer (I would argue) gets overshadowed a lot.

yeah, I mean, I definitely understand the hate Arin gets, and the way he bashes unconditionally on things definitely "earns" him his reputation for "hating" games.

Yet I find myself agreeing with him pretty often, and I understand a lot of the things he says and pokes fun of at games you have to take with a grain of salt, since he's mostly saying them to play up the character on the show.

With that being said, Dan's sincerity and devotion to keeping the audience happy "cmon Arin lets just speed up this part" etc really polishes it up, and I absolutely love his playthroughs

I think Arin has really valid points on games but the way in which he doesn't consistently apply the principles he espouses... like how he's big on the player figuring out what to do, and then does very much the opposite of bother to pay attention to how games work when he plays them.

I'm sure ark bites harder than I do, don't worry

Yeah, I totally get where you're coming from with this, but what I feel like happens is he sort of gets into a "character" on the show. Not saying he feigns stupidity, his stupidity is genuine on the show, but it's brought out a lot because he knows he's doing a show and being recorded, which is why he doesn't take the time to really read or pay attention, he just goes and goes. When he plays games on his own time he's actually good at them. Hell, he plowed through Bloodborne on his own.

I feel like a lot of hate he gets is because he doesn't pay attention and just skips over the instructions and gets into bad situations, and more often than not, blames the game, and the hate he gets for that is justified. But at the same time I feel like people compare him too harshly to the shit he says while just playing games with dan, vs the things he says when he's actually being serious and trying to critique and talk about game theory.

like I'm sure I'm super biased, I know what it feels like to be playing a game on your own vs playing it on a stream or even just recording, and on top of that having to socialize and make funnies with a friend while doing that? That will totally change how good you are at perceiving and paying attention to critical points. And I'm not trying to say nobody can do that, there's plenty of people that can (Dan), but I think the criticisms against him are a bit on the harsh side.

You're not wrong, the Grump fanbase gets really ugly.  If I ever thought Arin was too much of an annoyance to watch, I guess I'd just... do the rational thing and not watch?

By far the coolest thing in Oslo for me was Vigeland / Frogner Park.  IN fact, it was one of the coolest things I saw in Europe period.

you'd be fine with english, but yeah it's always nice when you know some of the local language. i didn't bother at all for scandinavia though since practically everyone speaks fantastic english here

I'm not a pic taking person, but I took a TON of pics there, maybe more than all the destinations combined.  It was incredible.  You will never forget it.

Yeah you def don't want to ask someone in scandinavia if they speak English.  It's totally insulting.  Best to just start speaking it to them and odds are overwhelmingly in favor of them replying in English.
red chamber dream
that's what i've done so far and i have yet to encounter someone who doesn't speak it. <3 scandinavia

sweet. i'm pumped. i love taking pictures, but mostly of ostensibly boring stuff like statues. so vigeland should be right up my alley. ;)
