I still regret getting into that from CS:GO. I got way too into the betting scene. I still came out ahead by like $150 and blew it on more steam games, but still.
They have the money to easily just get a small dev team to put out this story-rich lack-luster single player game and call it HL3, but at this point it's so hyped up it'd be a tremendous "faillure" in the gamer's eyes

They've got more of a software-as-a-service thing going on now. Lots of small-scale updates per year and a close eye on community complaints... At least for Dota, anyway.

Hell, keep a general NA server, but then include a "Certified NA Server" for people who are sick of being spammed with "HUEHUE NO ES LOS JUNGLA HUEHUEHUE TROLL U AMERICANSSSSSS"
