it seems to me that the most common outcome is for the older generation who are more set in their ways to go with the conservative party, then everyone else who is actually affected by the outcome will split their votes among the other parties
well i mean you still get representation even if your party doesn't win, it isn't all about winning and people lose sight of that I think. at the end of the day you're voting for who you want to send to westminster to represent you.
I must admit I'm not 100% clear on how that works in the states with congress and what have you
true, in a way statewide elections mean more than national elections since real change starts locally, or at least at the state level. and who becomes president isn't so much important as whether the president's party has a majority in the house or senate at any given time
what's lame is when one party has the presidency and both houses
i'm fairly sure that if an MP gets enough letters from his constituents telling him to vote against his party on a particular issue then he doesn't have a lot of choice
i wrote to a bunch of members of the european parliament some years ago now about european software patent law and the responses were pretty interesting ... I probably still have them somewhere, but most of them wrote back full and frank responses that specifically dealt with the things I'd mentioned. they actually did care enough to write proper letters back
I got the WORST haircut of my life today. This person has no business touching anyone else's hair. Thank god I can see my regular gal this wednesday. What was I thinking going somewhere else? The worst part is I know that she's going to have to hack off way more than I wanted just to fix the mess. :(
I should have told her to stop when I realized that she had no idea what she was doing. Then when she was done she handed me the mirror and kept turning the chair around real fast while I was trying to look at it. I asked her to stop moving the chair and when I saw what she did I did something really stupid - I asked her to fix it. She fucked it up even worse. I told her to stop and she just sat there saying that it looked fine. I wanted to ask her if she was blind or stupid - or both. I told them I would have someone else fix it later. I planned to leave a tiny tip, then my sweetie says he already paid for it and tipped her $7. I almost asked them to refund it. I don't want to sound racist, but I'm sure I will anyways. I always get bad haircuts from black stylists, and it's always the same issue - blending. They leave these huge chop lines. If I had dark hair then you wouldn't be able to see the lines, but they show up when your hair is light. It probably foes both ways - blonde chicks give horrible cuts to black customers, maybe that's why they typically go to black stylists.
