hah fuck that

i don't care too much how my glasses look because i usually wear contacts when i'm not at home. main thing for me is comfort ... i get headaches easily if the frame isn't wide enough
i used to wear contacts. couldn't really justify the ongoing expense though. plus they're a hassle, especially back in the day before you could get disposable ones
red chamber dream
i don't see it as a choice since i have to wear sunglasses outside
yeah I have some prescription ones
annoyingly I've lost 2 pairs of glasses while wearing the sunglasses though :/ at least one of them got stolen from my bag I'm pretty sure, but the joke was kind of on the thief since I think they thought they were stealing some fly sunglasses and they just got my specs instead
(they were in a ray-bans case)

haha

i've always worn like $10-20 sunglasses, don't see the point in paying more because they're just going to get trashed and the function is exactly the same
I have to take my glasses off when I drive so I can put my sunglasses on.  I used a clip on before, but it ended up scratching my lenses over time and I had to get new glasses.  I need them the most when I drive.  I've heard of transitions lenses for a long time but I never got them because I read that UV light is what makes them turn darker, and glass filters out most UV light, and the ads never show people using them to drive, and I read in the fine print that they don't work as well when you're in a car.  Naturally I assumed that they would be worthless for driving.  But then I talked to two people who have them and they said they work just fine in the car.  Dammit I have to get them now.
I think I did my driving test in sunglasses .. can't remember but I do recall having a five minute internal debate on whether I should wear them or go for my normal glasses instead
I can read just fine without my glasses.  Anything more than 6 feet or so away gets blurry though.  I can't read street signs.  Eye doc says I have astigmatism.

i can't read anything more than a few inches in front of my eyes, definitely have severe astigmatism

mine actually don't work as well in cars, so that definitely sucks. otherwise they're pretty convenient.
Do they work well enough in the car to function as sunglasses?
red chamber dream
i don't want transition lenses, don't like how they look

if your eyes are really sensitive, sunglasses are better. my eyes sometimes hurt just walking outside.

that's really weird you guys are all talking about this, my girlfriend just went in to the eye doctor today to get some glasses.

Mine are like this.  I have nearly always worn them for driving, as I think that if I were to get the sun glaring at the right angle while I'm driving, I'd be practically blind, and that can't be good.
Just came out of my basement.  Tornado warning is over.  People to the NE of me are in for some shit though.
something I've never had to deal with
red chamber dream
we got a fucking crazy lightning/hail storm last night, was pretty fun to watch

i hadn't heard of a tornado warning though

The sirens went off about 8 times in SE Aurora today.  There were 3 tornado warnings today that I know of. One is still in effect, but it's east of town by now.
Fuck they just fired them up AGAIN
it's weird living in seattle after so many years in illinois. used to get heavy thunderstorms and tornado warnings all the time, now there's just a light drizzle every other day

Not sure if I ever talked about it, but I have this weird phobia of the sound of those long drawn out siren sounds. The kind that usually play in video games like when a nuke is coming or when some other kind of horrible thing is coming for the city. I've gotten a lot better about it in the last ~5 years but it still triggers this weird chill and I can't help but focus on it if it's playing in a song or something. Unfortunately it plays a lot more often than I'd like in dubstep/electronic type of music.
