my grandma and mom get really into it each season, you tend to notice it more too when it's playing in the other room and just listening to it. They like to reuse a lot of the sounds, but can't blame them of course.
also I won't rant about it here too much, but I'm having to work with my college's administration because I got my grade back today and was approved for a $8,000 grant (to get paid about $850 a month to go to school next semester, which would help a ton), and then immediately was told that it was denied after that. I looked into why I got denied and it said I didn't pass the class I just finished taking, which seemed compeltely absurd to me for a few reasons. Firstly, during the class the teacher said that out of the 12 labs we did, 4 of them were going to be extra credit applied to our lab portion of our grade. I only ever missed one lab, and the amount of points that those extra labs were worth equaled the final, so I felt pretty comfy. As for homework, I know I missed one or two assignments but the rest that I did I knew I did nearly perfect on. And as for the lab, we did it in-class as a group project for 75% of the points, and the other 25% was a written portion (which admitidly, I did the written portion wrong and did poorly on that, but I figured it wouldn't be a big deal since I had so much extra credit lined up).
But here's where the bullshit starts.
Apparently I didn't get credit at all for any of the final. I can only think of a few reasons for this. The two guys I were working with did not care for the class whatsoever, but they were nice guys so I don't think they erased my name or anything. However I made the incredibly stupid move of entrusting one of them to turn in the project paper when they finished doing their portion, and I left early because I was starving. I suspect that one of them decided to just finish it at home or something stupid like that and took the paper back with him, OR they were just stupid and didn't turn it in at all. One other minor possibility is that I somehow forgot to write my name on the paper, but I doubt that.
But that wouldn't have been a big deal if I got the extra credit like I thought. Apparently the teacher changed his stance on that situation, and instead made it so that out of the 8 labs (12 total) he would only grade the 8 with the highest grade, and not count the others. But that isn't unfair, that's fine, I'm cool with that.
And for the homework portion, apparently I fucked up when turning in a lot of the homeworks by submitting them as "comments" instead of "answers" to the assignment online. But I still got like 40% credit for this so I'm not sure what the hell I was doing else wrong, or if he was giving me partial credit and not telling me, or what. I don't know.
At this point I'm trying to get in contact with the teacher as well but I'm pretty much getting the response of "well it's a bit too late for that now", which I fully agree. I should have been watching my grades much closer and caught this way way sooner. It was very foolish of me to just expect everything was working perfectly fine just because I was doing good in an easy class.
Thankfully it's not too serious of a problem, the worst that could happen is I retake the class next semester (with all my notes, answers to homework, and lab experience). However it pretty much means I totally wasted an entire semester, which at this point in my life, I'm trying not to waste more time diddling around in college since I've been in and out and wasted the last two years already.
yeah true, and really the only thing wasted in the end was time, but I did learn stuff along the way in he class. Might just mean next semester is a little more laid back than I wanted.
seems like DJ does a lot of that himself as well, although he seems to be a lot more into the nitty-gritty bits of things and cpu architecture and stuff
I definitely couldn't get into that, can't be too much of a nerd
