from what i've heard, panic attacks are extremely scary and debilitating. anxiety attacks, at least the ones i've gotten, seem to be more just a lot of hyperventilating and not being able to do anything else until you calm down ... it doesn't feel like you're going to die though, which is what people who've had panic attacks have told me.
hmm I've always heard the two used synonymously
They're the same thing medically, I've heard some people make the distinction but there isn't one physiologically, it's just a matter of severity

ah ok, mine must have been pretty minor then
In fact I was seen by a psychiatrist once who wouldn't even make a distinction between anxiety and depression, he said they were just different symptoms but essentially the same condition
I felt so stupid after mine happened.  I was just watching TV and eating some cereal.  I had been working full time and going to school full time without a break for a year.  I had just come home from work and had about an hour before I had to leave to go to class.  I was burning the candle at both ends, partying on the weekends, very skinny, and my body had just had enough of the way it was being treated and decided to revolt against me I guess.
Amphetamines helped me keep going, but they didn't help in preventing the attack.
That's interesting because my situation was very similar
Thought I could deal with a limitless amount of mental pummeling but your brain draws a line eventually and won't let you step over that line

Quote from DJGrenola:
Poision this is the most amateur of diagnoses but some of your symptoms sound reminiscent of panic attacks

Quote from Opium:
I was going to suggest that but I didn't know how you would feel about it.  I had one so bad one time that I actually called 911 and told them I was having a heart attack.  I was pretty embarrassed about it.
lol they didn't even run any test.  The emt just grabbed me by the shoulders and looked me in the face and told me to calm down and breathe because I was just panicing.  They somehow just knew the difference right away.

I've actually had a minor history of both in the past, espeically as a kid every time we moved and I was in a new school. Actually now that I think about it, a lot of the times my symptoms are triggered from stress and anxiety from things like work and being timed.

One of the worst panic attacks I've ever had actually was when I played YuGiOh and was casually dueling against an ex, I was trying to read the cards but I just couldn't focus on what they were saying and I was on a timer and it all got so overwhelming that I had to completely stop and just lay down for about 15 minutes.

Whats weird though is how a lot of the effects are lasting for a long time now. Like the whole numbness feeling, and chest pains last for days now after I have even just a minor attack. I didn't even really think the two were linked since it seemed so minimal in my head. Might be something bigger too, oh well, I'll get it figured out soon enough
That is weird. I still say a physical is in order.
I bought this on gamestop.com.  Couldn't resist.  I wish I could have just gone to the store to get it, but apparently you can only buy it online.

damn another unexpected ruling
I'm conflicted about that stuff.  I personally don't care if they have a record of all my phone activity, and there's so much legal red tape in place that govt can't get ahead of the bad guys.  I feel like some people get worked up about it based on nothing but principle. They want the govt to stop doing something that has no negative effect on their life, but the cost is ineffective law enforcement which DOES have a negative effect on us all.  These privacy laws were written by people who had no idea what the world would be like today.  It's a nice idea but it doesn't work in the modern world, kind of like the second amendment.

i'm not conflicted at all. it's called the fourth amendment, and we're a constitutional republic. this shit is incredibly illegal in every way. if they want to do it, they need to amend the constitution first (good luck with that)
The constitution has been amended many times as needed when shit didn't make sense any more, but it's probably impossible to do now because people are too stupid to think critically about anything these days.
red chamber dream
it has been amended many times, but it's always been nearly impossible to amend. that's by design of course
It's weird to describe something as happening many times, yet nearly impossible.  But anyways, I think it's harder to change now than it was in the past.

maybe especially so due to the current political climate, but it's not like the rules for changing it have changed

i don't think "nearly impossible" is inaccurate at all

What bothers me is that people aren't even having the conversation on whether or not it should be changed.  They aren't saying 'Hey, you need to amend the constitution BEFORE you start going in that direction!"  What they're saying is "You can't do that because it says so in the constitution."  They act as if it's something written in stone that always makes sense, and can never be wrong, and I'll bet that most of them don't even know that it's ever been changed.  Getting upset about something on principle alone, without even thinking about the problem critically, is boneheaded.
It reminds me of people who blindly follow religion without ever questioning any of it.

i've never heard anyone claim we should get rid of the fourth amendment ...
