nah I know but it's a pretty serious problem, even for middle school kids. Every time they get into a fight they whip out their phones and start yelling WORLD STAR WORLD STAR and record it to upload
Me too. And one day I hope it is gone. All I was saying before is that if blacks hate white people simply because they're white then it slows down progress. It's not the cause of the problem, or some major issue blocking anything from improving, but it does hurt progress.
A close relative of mine once told me that the reason blacks in europe didn't face the same level of racism they do in america is because europe doesn't have any n*ggers. I had to sit down.
When you literally found a country on the principle that some people are inherently better than other people, it takes a lot more than black people and white people being nice to each other to fix things.
and then it's glorified by people like lil wayne and childish gambino (although I'm like 90% sure he was glorifying it ironically)
Everybody in America gets caught up in celebrity culture, though. The second any celebrity says they like something a thousand people will buy in because in our society having forming your own identity is less important than hopping onto someone else's. We're a very strange collective culture.
True, but it feels like we really excel at it in ways no one else can.
Quote from DJGrenola:
gays have never been bought and sold as slaves though ... I mean I'm neither black nor gay nor american so I'm probably way out of line, but it seems to me like historically blacks have a little bit more to be angry about
Yeah gays have certainly had a history of discrimination here, but no where near the scale black people have seen. It goes well beyond slavery even, entire cities were built around segregating populations, government districts are divided up to be more favorable to white people, legal segregation of whites and blacks in much of the south that people alive today lived through and fought against. Openly racist policy didn't end here a couple hundred years ago it's still pretty recent. Also it's just a lot easier to discriminate against people when they are obviously different, you can't easily pick out the all gay people in the crown and make them send them to the back of the bus.
the thing that irks me the most is it's getting worse
like gerrymandering? districts have gotten more and more segregated by race over the years, and VERY deliberately so by the republicans, but no one seems to care
