and then it's glorified by people like lil wayne and childish gambino (although I'm like 90% sure he was glorifying it ironically)
red chamber dream
there's weirdos that are into that stuff in every race
red chamber dream
(i love bumfights btw)
Club 27 Goals
nah I know but it's a pretty serious problem, even for middle school kids. Every time they get into a fight they whip out their phones and start yelling WORLD STAR WORLD STAR and record it to upload
Club 27 Goals
Idk can totally vouch for this too, I know he knows
red chamber dream
see i don't really consider that a problem

think of all the crazy shit you were exposed to as a kid
Quote from arkarian:
what i do know is that the real problem is institutionalized racism and not anything black people are doing

Do you believe that if racism were gone then the challenges that the african american community struggles with will improve?
red chamber dream
if institutionalized racism were gone? of course
red chamber dream
if racism were gone altogether, who knows because that's impossible
red chamber dream
fuck i really need to go for a run, bbl
Me too. And one day I hope it is gone.  All I was saying before is that if blacks hate white people simply because they're white then it slows down progress.  It's not the cause of the problem, or some major issue blocking anything from improving, but it does hurt progress.
I have the same disdain for it, regardless of the source.
A close relative of mine once told me that the reason blacks in europe didn't face the same level of racism they do in america is because europe doesn't have any n*ggers.  I had to sit down.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
When you literally found a country on the principle that some people are inherently better than other people, it takes a lot more than black people and white people being nice to each other to fix things.
One shall stand, one shall ball.

Everybody in America gets caught up in celebrity culture, though. The second any celebrity says they like something a thousand people will buy in because in our society having forming your own identity is less important than hopping onto someone else's. We're a very strange collective culture.

i don't think we're any different from any other developed country in that respect though

people from other countries will SAY we are, but reality doesn't seem to reflect that, lol
One shall stand, one shall ball.
True, but it feels like we really excel at it in ways no one else can.

Quote from DJGrenola:
gays have never been bought and sold as slaves though ... I mean I'm neither black nor gay nor american so I'm probably way out of line, but it seems to me like historically blacks have a little bit more to be angry about

Yeah gays have certainly had a history of discrimination here, but no where near the scale black people have seen. It goes well beyond slavery even, entire cities were built around segregating populations, government districts are divided up to be more favorable to white people, legal segregation of whites and blacks in much of the south that people alive today lived through and fought against. Openly racist policy didn't end here a couple hundred years ago it's still pretty recent. Also it's just a lot easier to discriminate against people when they are obviously different, you can't easily pick out the all gay people in the crown and make them send them to the back of the bus.

also, plenty of those policies are still in effect and supported by members of congress, they're just called something else now
red chamber dream
and yeah great point about gay people not looking any different - that's very important, actually
red chamber dream
plus there's no way to "verify" someone is gay even if you wanted to
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Hey remember when we declared black people 3/5 of a person?

Yeah in a sense we really only got better at trying to be subtle about it all. Still pretty obvious if you think about it for a minute but hey.
red chamber dream
the thing that irks me the most is it's getting worse

like gerrymandering? districts have gotten more and more segregated by race over the years, and VERY deliberately so by the republicans, but no one seems to care
red chamber dream
and that's like the sole reason republicans still hold so many offices

like the SOLE reason
red chamber dream
so by definition our government doesn't represent the people ... not sure there's any way to change it now
