They made us all put condoms on plastic dicks in school as way of saying "if you're gonna do it (and nothing we say is gonna stop you anyway), do it right"

heh this is something i always saw in movies but my schools never did
but taking a little too much cocaine while you're having a great time with your friends in private means you're a criminal who should go to jail for years
it's totally ridiculous for schools to tell kids not to have sex in the first place, and even california does that
Wasn't so much telling us not to ever do it iirc, it may be different now, but it was more trying to make doing it without a condom like the most terrifying thing in the world. Everyone you love will die! There's definitely an odd focus on the big scary stuff but that went away a bit once I got to high school, maybe because the teacher was a young dude who was realistic in his expectations of teenagers. There's too much trying to make everyone happy about how it's all taught though, yeah, because conservative parents are too chickenshit to tell their kids "Hey, use protection dumbass!" Because ew sex gross.
Heh, the health teacher I had in highschool wasn't the usual prude like most others. She was like "you can have sex, take drugs, and do any kind of questionable thing you can come up with... Just keep in mind, there are consequences."
"An instinct is an inborn complex pattern of behavior that must exist in every member of the species and, because it is embedded in the genetic code, cannot be overcome by force of will.It should be distinguished from a reflex which is a simple response of an organism to a specific stimulus, such as the contraction of the pupil in response to bright light or the spasmodic movement of the lower leg when the knee is tapped. Instincts, in contrast, are complex sequential stimulus-response patterns; such behaviors are readily identified in non-human animals".
Eating, self-preservation, etc are not instincts because they can be overcome by will, and reflexes are not instincts.
Reproduction isn't anywhere as instinctive in humans as it is most other animals. Hell, we don't even reproduce for the most part, we just fondle with each other's privates for pleasure.
i'm thinking of a more broader definition i learned in school i guess.
what you're talking about is more prevalent in other animals, you're right, but i don't see why us being able to overcome our instincts means we don't have them
