Wasn't so much telling us not to ever do it iirc, it may be different now, but it was more trying to make doing it without a condom like the most terrifying thing in the world. Everyone you love will die! There's definitely an odd focus on the big scary stuff but that went away a bit once I got to high school, maybe because the teacher was a young dude who was realistic in his expectations of teenagers. There's too much trying to make everyone happy about how it's all taught though, yeah, because conservative parents are too chickenshit to tell their kids "Hey, use protection dumbass!" You're thinking of reflexes, etc.

Eating, self-preservation, etc are not instincts because they can be overcome by will, and reflexes are not instincts.
