yeah right now I'm just going to classes two times a week, and just living life as things pop up. I still have a bit of money left over from working, so I'm like, whatever. I don't have enough to blow money on a PS3 and PC upgrades, but I still have enough to just spend it gradually going to meetups and buying random shit.
but yeah lately I haven't been planning or doing shit, I just deal with things when they come up. Like getting a cute-as-hell boyfriend. I feel like I'm cheating right now or something. Like, there's full-on gay people totally falling for him, and here I come along, hardly attracted to guys at all but still manage to get him. Totally don't deserve it at all, but hell, if it's handed to me, who am I to reject it? Poision = big pimpin'. Certainly the best thing that's happened in awhile.
Two rather simple questions regarding English grammar:
1) "e.g." commas before and after like "blablabla, e.g. this and that..." or like "blablabla, e.g., this and that" 2) can not or cannot or both possible?
In literature you can find all versions, but this does not necessarily mean both are correct. :)
hmm, with the "eg" thing, I don't think I'd used either. for example (heh), I'd do something like: "This game is really hard (eg: first boss)". I'm no expert on literature though, so maybe I'm using it wrong.
as for the cannot vs can not, I really have no idea. I always just use "can't", so I couldn't give you any real advice, heh.
As far as I know, 'e.g.' doesn't normally fit within a sentence, as it introduces an example, so you'd have something like:
Code:
"I saw a big dog today."
The word 'big' in this sentence could be changed to a number of different words, yet mean the same thing. e.g. large, huge
As for 'can not / cannot', it's actually quite rare to see 'can not' nowadays, because cannot is easier and means the same thing. The only exception I would make, where I would always use 'can not' (with the space) would be when discussing two things that I CAN do, such as:
Code:
I can not only solve a Rubik's cube in under a minute, but I can also solve it with one hand.
Okay, "can not" changed to cannot, which is much more common. About the "e.g." thing: It`s vastly used in technical and scientific literature. I think I have to dig deeper here...
I suspect that even if that were the case, it'd likely be separated by more than just a comma, so you'd end up with something like:
Code:
I'd choose a darker colour (e.g. blue or purple), because it would not clash so badly with the existing colours.
It just looks really odd to just see the 'e.g.' stuck in the middle of something, even with commas. It seems to break the flow of what is being read, and the sentence can most likely just be split to avoid it.
i believe the most proper use of e.g. is with a comma, e.g., "yall can send me the money however you'd like, e.g., personal check, cashier's check, or money order."
but i don't think anyone would notice or care if you don't put the comma, even when writing something for school. i never put the comma, and in casual speech i don't put the periods either.
cannot is most common but there's no reason you have to use it, just like there's no reason you have to use any other word. sometimes when i'm writing something i separate it ("can not") to get the flow of the sentence just right. can't think of an example atm, sorry, but i'll let you know when i do.
god this morning was pretty much the definition of "this sucks".
I went to bed at 7am, got woken up at 10:30 by my mom saying that I needed to babysit my two younger siblings in the car. "It will only take about 10 minutes" she said. "Don't worry you can just rest in the car" she said. It took about half an hour just to get there, then she goes inside and I had to wait for TWO AND A HALF HOURS. but wanna know the best part? My little sister was throwing up the whole time. chocolate milkshake puke.
god damn screw that noise, I was so pissed. Sure I was getting paid but I don't even want or care to have money right now, I would have rather just slept at home. Never babysitting for her like that again.
But you wanna know what REALLY sucks? I finally get home and get on steam, and I find that the guy I like went offline just HALF an hour before I got home. I was like, what the helllll.
I searched Google for "random site" and guess what i found? Not some weird random site but a site that sends you to random sites. Ingenious! How cool is that? There are so many empty domains on the Internet...
