wow, i did not know that. extremely cool you got a response, too. hope it works out.
The saddest part of all is that you have kids who go into scouting with respect for one another, then after being exposed to the controversy they become enemies.  Is that really what this thing is supposed to be about?  Why cant those old fucktards see that?

They cite all of their reasoning in scripture and in ridiculous ideas that homosexuality is 'taught' to young people, and they also advocate that gay scout leaders are more likely to be pedophiles.  Completely backward, ignorant retards.

Where did you hear that?  I have never heard any of it, and I am in the Boy Scouts.

EDIT: Bluh.  Those last two posts didn't show up until I reloaded the page.

are you gay or anti-christian?
From what I know, they aren't exactly anti gay or atheist, they just don't allow them to join.  I'm sure there's far worse discrimination elsewhere.  And no I'm not either of those.

There are many many pages on the interweb about it, but here's a basic outline on wikipedia.  I havent read this, and it IS a wiki, so.....well, you know.  Anyways:

how is not letting a gay person join a group that has nothing to do with sexual orientation anything but anti-homosexual?

That message of intolerance is quite damaging to impressionable young people, especially coming from an organization that is supposed to have the reputation of being the epitome of good values.  So by saying 'they just don't allow them to join.' it sounds far less harmful than it fundamentally is.
red chamber dream
i mean if it were called The Straight Boy Scouts of America and their activities focused on watching heterosexual porn or something, then of course they have a reason for not allowing gay people to join
Young people don't even understand intolerance to begin with. It's adults that are more edgy about it.
Club 27 Goals
wow I didn't know that about the boy scouts. Thanks for letting me know.

Well apparently BSA is trying to change that.

What, are they saying "don't like non-religious people and gays" right in their faces? 'Cause I really doubt that.
Heck no.  They don't talk about it at all.

Also,
"the Supreme Court of the United States has affirmed that as a private organization, the BSA can set its own membership standards."
red chamber dream
sure it can. but that doesn't mean opium has to agree with them lol.

the argument here isn't about legality it's about bigotry
"Spirituality has been an integral part of the international Scouting movement since its inception."

"Religious organizations host/sponsor over 60% of the approximately 123,000 Scouting units in the United States and use the Scouting program as part of their youth ministration."

"In reciting the Scout Oath, Scouts promise to be morally straight and to do their duty to God; the Scout Law holds that a Scout is clean and reverent."

i hope the girl scouts don't have similar beliefs? i don't want to have to stop buying their cookies.
red chamber dream
yeah doesn't that make you want to punch someone lol

Girl Scout policy states that the word "God" may be interpreted depending on individual spiritual beliefs. When reciting the Girl Scout Promise, "God" may be substituted with the word dictated by those beliefs.
gyrotechnic lollipop
i'm cool with that as long as they don't hate on the gays.
