Sorry to interrupt your guy's talking about sexy men (which may or may not include Adrien Brody).
But anyhow, I just got off the phone after talking with a random asian chick who could only speak in very little broken english and asked me the most random questions. This all got started when I bought a Modern Warfare CD Key from this website for about $15. I accidentally put up my mother's name on the billing address, so that set off some red flag on their end.
So they had to call me, they asked me my full name, my mother's full name, what street I live on, the closest highway to my house, the two closest parks to my house, and any other point of interest that would help them make sure I'm really the person I said I am. All of that would have been perfectly fine, but I had no idea ahead of time WHAT she was going to ask me.
But worst of all, it was that ACCENT. Try going up to someone and ask them this in the most Korea accent you can and see if they understand you: "u leev in cafonia, yes? wut street is that u live on yes? please need closest highway for verifaction, also park."
I must have had to ask that poor girl to repeat herself at least twice for each question, and even then I would think I knew what she was asking and I would tell her something, and what I was telling her had nothing to do with what she was asking which in turn made HER even more confused and me double confused.
I know I've ranted about talking to people with accents before, so I'll just end it at this.[/rant]
You can get it on console pretty cheap these days, anyway.
Playing an FPS using a console controller is pretty much the worse thing ever, and one of the main reasons why I got CoD4 instead of MW2 is because of the mods.
those don't seem like the same thing to me. brand loyalty in terms of video games doesn't really mean much ... there are tons of good developers working for all kinds of companies. whereas if nolan north stopped voicing nathan drake i'd be disappointed because i enjoy his voice acting and think he does a good job.
brand loyalty/disloyalty is stupid. sure, activision is run by a dick, he doesn't make the games, he's just smart enough to profit from them.
Agreed.
IMO, same thing goes for companies like AMD and Intel, ATi and Nvidia, etc. Sometimes one company is doing better than the other, sometimes the other is doing better, it seems stupid to always stick with one company no matter what they put out and convincing yourself that they are always the best even when their newest product is a total failure (I'm looking at you, 480).
But fanboys will be fanboys, and hates are gonna hate.
I guess one could argue over the definition of 'loyalty', but it's not stupid to put some kind of trust in a company's track record. If they consistently deliver awesomeness then it's OK to have faith that their next release will be awesome, too. Same goes for shittiness. It's only when someone decides something is shitty or awesome solely on that faith that it becomes stupid.
So I guess you don't buy any Blizzard games anymore either?
nope, after what they did with starcraft2? no lan? broke the game into 3 pieces to get more money from one game? made the entire game on-line? heck no i will buy something from then, unless it's good and they don't try to fuck with the gamers with some draconian DRM or fucked-up strategies to have money with little to no effort...
A lady with her daughter came into the hotel last night, asked about getting a room, but she didn't have any I.D. on her, then asked how far she was from Illinois. She kept making calls on her cell phone, then said she was sorry and walked out. Maybe about 20 minutes later she comes back and has a (female) police officer with her and some other lady. I don't know what was going on with that lady but she was obviously stranded.
The officer got to talking with me, saying she knew the lady I worked for (my bosses have a rather negative reputation around town ), and asked if I -or her- could call my boss and work it out with her about letting this poor stranded lady stay past 11:AM and still pay for 1 night. The lady's mother wouldn't be able to get there to pick her up until around 4 or 5 in the evening. The officer said she could get her dispatcher to call my boss....
So, later, I got to thinking that maybe she said that as a way to twist my arm in order to 'let it slide' with that stranded lady. Because it was highly likely my boss would not have allowed it, and would've made her mad for calling her and waking her up around 4:AM just to ask about something I already know.
We can let guests check-in after 7:00 AM and stay past 11:00 AM. So we all "worked it out" that the stranded lady got there at about 6:55 AM.
I was once a manager at a job where the police showed up often. There was a general consensus that we granted their every request to break our own rules as long as we were within the law. Having a good rapport with the police is a very important thing, especially when you need their help in a hurry.
I had a funny incident earlier today. I was walking back to my car in a car park, and this old guy was making a serious mess of parking in one of the bays, snaking all over the place. I thought I'd be nice, and wait for him to finish before I walked past. He eventually gave up, pulled out, put a huge scratch of some guy's car (the guy was sat IN it), and parked in the next row. The guy whose car was hit got out, understandably angry, and the old guy denies it ever happened. I almost laughed, because it was so blatent, and I must have been maybe two metres away? I gave my number as a witness and all, but people are funny. Vroom, vroom, SKREEEEEEEEE, "wasn't me..."

No, it was a place where unsavory folks liked to gather. The cops weren't there for fun, they were always looking to apprehend people. With so many unsavory types coming through there, you can see why we liked to stay on their good side.
oh it's not your fault. anime topic is just the new social topic! or something.
well, I just sort of finished the backloggery replacement I've been working on for weeks: http://shadowrose-rpg.com/newsite/index.php looks totally lame but I actually like it this way.
