Quote from Quietus:
You'd have to try and damage yourself to require it again.

I've done that to enable a Concentration health refill. Mainly on hard mode, on the elevator before the first Rhedogian battle, I would let the last pirate shoot me before I killed it so I could get back to full health.

why no one thought of replacing the health concentration with crystal flash?

it would make a lot more sense...
I honestly don't think it crosses their minds.  But I'm not going to blame them for that since it hasn't been in a Metroid game since.  I can only imagine that it'd be a pain to program in and animate.

A continuous white power bomb animation with an internal silhouette that's already making me prone to blinding from the screen?

And I learned my lesson playing this game: whenever using bombs or doing anything ridiculously bright, darken the TV brightness. Eating carrots to maintain my eyesight can do only so much.
Crystal Flash requires power bombs. Power Bombs are the very last item in the game.

Not if they changed the mechanic to Use some portion of Missiles while not regening any of them.

Would mean that the only way to get Missiles back would be save stations though.

But the problem is that several bosses REQUIRE Missiles.
I like turtles.
Or you could just have it not require missiles either.
But then Missiles would never be used. Charged Shots are spammed so easily...
I like turtles.
No, I mean have Crystal Flash not require Missiles.  In other words, call the move "Crystal Flash" for continuity's sake, instead of the lame-sounding "Concentration."
IIRC the only place it was called Crystal Flash was the SM comic made by Nintendo Power. Did it have a name in the guide?
It's called Crystal Flash in the guide as far as I remember. I'd have to look at it again to be sure, but I'm fairly certain that's what it's called in the small description of how to pull it off.
I just looked in the official nintendo players guide and they do indeed call it crystal flash.
Gotcha...

However, crystal flash wouldn't really describe the move in Other M well.
It's basically 'reload'.
For missiles, yes. For health... not really.

yea, you don't reload your health, man, you don't concentrate your health either...

cooncentration is a very dumb name...

I like how it doesn't even tell you power bombs are enabled until after you use them.

What I don't like about the Concentration concept is
1) It makes missile tanks completely meaningless. It takes 2 seconds to fully reload your missles and you can do it as much as you want. There is no need to have more than like 10 missiles.
2) Concentration is the ONLY way to restore energy between save points, and it doesn't fully restore it, either (unless you're speedrunning low %, I guess). WHY did they feel the need to remove pickups from the game?

they felt concentration was a good replacement for pickups.
they at least should get some points for trying to change something that has been in practically every other game in the series.
Besides, how do pick ups even appear? Cause, you know... Zoomers will obviously have missiles on them. Its like Samus having to shoot doors to open them. Something that doesn't really make sense, but everybody went along with.
Well, how does focusing magically make your missiles and energy replenish? Neither really makes sense.

Still, I think that concentration worked pretty well, and didn't really detract from missile tanks. Besides, after you get enough missiles, you don't even need to concentrate any more.

"concentration" is just a bad name. had it been named "suit recharge", far less people would have questioned how it works.

I agree and one thing that I really like is how the pickups look completely different from Prime and the chime that plays when picked up.
One thing about the pickups that I thought was cool (/time consuming) was that Samus actually bent down and sort of "equipped" the pickup. I also liked how the missile tanks that came out of cases would land sideways. It was a nice touch.

On the topic of concentration, I thought it was a nice new take on things, and I thought it was a pretty cool idea. Seeing as MOM was more of an action game, it fit better than it would of in, say, Prime.

Yeah game not are good like other Metroids games. This game is also extremely unfair. Enemys are nearly impossible dodge constantly and these takes tons damage per hit (1 energy tanks is nothing). I really hate material lift boss fight its kill me always less than 30 seconds and i not have any idea how dodge him attack. Even you can fill your energy thats nearly pointless because its take tons time and enemys are so quick and dangerous. I can,t even know when boss got damaged because most minibosses didn`t haved energy metter

I also hate sense moving. I can,t be controll it.

I was more hoping game like Prime. Corruption was good game even hyper mode take time to learn you still haved good chances and time learn it. You didn`t need mastered it very soon.

Best things in Other M are new moves like speedboosters and etc.. new stuffs. These seems interesting. I give 5/10 points. But yeah this game is better than Metroid Prime Hunters, but its nothing compared Prime series games.
