Nav stations are pretty close to each other for the most part. There are points where the checkpoint is right in the middle of a section, but otherwise I agree that it would mainly be more time consuming.
Yes - all 3 Primes have the spider ball - and what a cool upgrade it is. If you don't know, one of the boss fights in MP2 is completely fought in morph ball and winning yields the prize of spider ball. Lots of negative input on the MP2 site but I think it is a great game with some truly great gameplay.
Crystal flash -- I don't recognize that term. What game is this from?
Super. It's a special hidden ability where you can fully recharge your energy tanks if you have 10+ of each ammo type available, as well as a few other requirements. (So 10 missiles, super missiles, and power bombs. Need 11 power bombs actually since you use one to activate it in the first place.)
interestingly enough, metroid ii's spider ball is probably still the best implementation of it to date. i can understand why they went with the tracks in the prime games though.

Too lazy to put spikes or other hazards of some sort on the walls.
Seeing the Crystal Flash in this game would have been the best thing ever (maybe having to hold the Remote in a certain position, like facing downwards)... would have been a better use of EP restoration than Concentration (I wouldn't mind it if I had to consume all of my missiles to restore EP then use Concentration to resupply).
And is it just me, or were there no regen drops in this game since the Metroids were technically "gone" for good?
Quote from sabata2:
I wouldn't say lazy. But outside of caverns what could you logically put on a wall to make it dangerous?
Having walls "Bleed acid" would just be weird.
And they're coming out of the god-damned walls! D'oh, I should stop being obsessed with Alien.
Crystal Flash is just of the special things about Super that really make it stand out among the series. It's almost as if the creativity and courage to do new things went out the window after that game.
Crystal Flash wouldn't work here, as you have infinite missiles, so even by depleting them all to recover health, you'd just refill your missiles again.
Even so, to be able to completely refill your health within even five / ten minutes would still realistically equate to infinite health. You'd have to try and damage yourself to require it again.
