Well, the Twin Snakes in itself is for GCN. But a PS2 remake of the original MGS game is also going underway. I dunno if it'll be subnamed Twin Snakes too, but I'm definitely getting it.

URL?
The PS2 game coming out is a new game, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. there is currenlty *ZERO* plans, or news, or even mention of a PS2 remake of the first game.
That said. I'm Not Picking up twinsnakes as it comes out, I'm going to be spending my money buying Harvest Moon:A Wonderful Life that day. I'll get twinsnakes during my birthday, which is later in the month. Harvest Moon just holds priority over metal gear, which I've never really enjoyed that much, but i do love Silicon Knights... and the movie Versus was enjoyable. =p (director of Versus is the guy doing the cinema's for twinsnakes)

Twin Snakes comes out first, on the 9th, hitting stores on the tenth (my birthday!). Harvest Moon releases on the 16th, and is in stores the next day. I'd recommend getting Twin Snakes first, then HM on your birthday. Believe me, I want HM like nothing else, but that's just the way the dates work (plus I'll be away on vacation the 16th).
they delayed harvest moon again? i thought the march 9th release date was finally firm... we better be getting at least a "decent" translation out of this, along with some major extra's for the american release.
eitherway, im still wanting harvest moon quite a bit more, and it'll actually last me a couple of month's, unlike MGS which im betting i'll beat in one sitting. (note: I beat fucking FF3(6) in one sitting before)
but, annoyingly, i have the money issue, and harvest moon is cheaper (40$) and i'll be able to have 40$ without breaking 2 more weeks without food.
i'll figure it out when the time comes, im to concerned with this wednesday =p
(where did you hear they delayed harvest moon to the 16th?)
Sorry to bump an old topic but this game has me giddy with glee and chock full of anticipation for next Tuesday :D It's just a remake of the original with MGS2's engine, but I'm a sucker and don't care :D Must...wait..longer :(
<--die-hard Metal Gear head, even since the really bad NES version.
yep, its less than a week away, however, i figured it was a good idea to hold off on buying this (and harvest moon) till my spring break starts (mainly harvest moon) And i'll be picking them both up at the same time...
I don't really know what to expect with twin snakes, but I'm sure harvest moon is going to take over my life in more ways than I would have liked.
I've finished MGS on PC a couple of times. So i'm not going to buy the twin snakes. But Final Fanatasy Cristal Chronicles is coming to stores next thursday. So this is going to be the last week i spend some time on important stuff for a while.

The European release of Crystal Chronicles is next week? Nice :). I'll probably have to buy a second GC-GBA cable myself if I want to play multiplayer, though, which sucks.
Staying on topic, is there any difference at all between Twin Snakes and the original MGS? I have MGS on my Playstation, so I don't think it's worth me buying Twin Snakes.
Should be more like: Who isn't going to pick up The Twin Snakes?
The 'rents reserved it for my birthday back in February so when I go home I should... OH SHIT! That means I'm getting it over Spring Break! Hell yeah!
Looks like I'll have to finish up the games I haven't beat yet: Wind Waker, Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, plus I've got a hankering to play MP... so much pointless/fun work to do.

There's a 4-part commentary on the near finished product. But in all honesty, it's just as simple as it sounds. Remake of MGS with the MGS2 engine, re-recorded dialogue (I've heard stuff from the Ocelot fight and when he's shot he yelps like a girl now o_o), and some minor GC only goodies.
look at the date i posted that, im aware of the delay at this point, and im also aware they both sell for 40$ which is very very good.
Anyone ahve any clue how much memory card space MGS:TTS takes? I know harvest moon:AWL takes an absurd 47 blocks, which means i have a total of around 15 blocks space for TTS...

... of course... I was... um... just testing you... yea. <_< >_>

If I'm correct it takes up 3-4. Not sure which one though.
Got mine today, have 3 and a half ours of gameplay time under my belt, and it's exactly as I expected. Just drop MGS in MGS2's engine and make the cut scenes spiffier. Something about it feels a little off to me though. The game feels rather clunky in combat situations and it's not because of the dipping framerate (which only happens in larger areas.) and I've seen guards just poof out of nowhere when detected which was just really awkward. Whereas everything felt rather smooth on the PS and PS2, it feels really jerky to me on the GC. It may be one of those "take a while to get used to" things, but I've played both original games enough to know they don't feel this "tight."
The dialogue is probably the most disappointing. Everyone couldn't sound more bored if they tried. Why they re-recorded it all is beyond me. Whereas the original's acting was probably the best I'd ever heard in a videogame, it's dipped in quality considerably.
I'm not sure if it's just me needing to get used to it all again (which I can't imagine why since I've played both MGS and MGS2 over and over so much I could recite each line for line.), or if it really just didn't hold up all that well.
All in all, so far, I'm not completely disappointed, but my expectations weren't met either.
