Delete SMILE and reinstall it.

No, actually. This problem can happen for a variety of reasons and almost none of them involve what you suggest.
Good evening, I am a bit tired so I hope this is the correct place in which to post this question.

When I attempt to open up a SM rom with SMILE I get the following message:

Run-time error '320':

Control array element "2" doesn't exist


I am not sure what the cause of this could be. I have searched via google, but have found no help concerning SMILE. I know that the programmer posts here, and that you fellows are the most knowledgable concerning his program so I hope one of you can figure out what I am doing wrong.

There is a version of the SM rom that works fine when played but does not co-operate with SMILE. You may want to try finding another copy of the rom and see if it opens with that.
I was afraid of that. I actually thought about that first and started looking for other versions  of the rom, and I even found some, but to no avail Guess ill have to start searching again. I would really like to try my hand at this for a bit and see if I can have some fun.  Thanks!

It's every enemy. All enemies are drawn over the haze, but i'd rather they were drawn under it, since one area is so dark you cant see the floor, but enemies below you are bright as ever. I need them darker too. Still I guess t's not neccessary.

Also I remeber my other question. I edited the Speed Booster escape path and made it taller to 5 screens high, but the lava rises way too fast. How can I slow down how fast it rises?

That error has nothing to do with palette changes. A couple rooms in the game have that happen regardless of what you do (I think there's one in WS and one in Maridia). Otherwise, you've been repointing rooms without updating SMILE's room index text file.


There's several right from the start. The big dragon rock room in Norfair, WS mainstreet 2 states with different level_data pointers (the second isn't in the level entries), there's a few more I can't think of. It's because the level_entries.txt doesn't correctly list all of the level_data pointers in the ROM. I went through and fixed up the level_entries, so every room in SMILE shows the correct data limit. Download it here.

I might ask Jathys to replace the level entries he has in SMILE's download with this one, cause I don't think it's been fixed. He'll probably need to go over it though, and he's probably busy anyway.
To change the lava speed, go to FX1 and change the surface speed.

I just watched Shadows youtube vid on room testing.  I learned about the 'Test Room Options'.  I set them to what I wanted and Saved Changes.  But when I tested (via hitting the 'E' key)...  None of those were there.

Edit: Is this possibly a bug in SMILE (2.010)?

Does anyone by any chance know how to stop Phantoon from changing the palette after his death? My problem is that after I kill him, everything goes plain white (from red). it does it for all palette numbers, and it doesn't matter which room I put him in. So I'm guessing it's something with his AI.

I've tried changing room pointers, different AI pointers. I know the change doesn't happen in Redesign, so I even tried copying Phantoons data from Redesign into my ROM, but it still changed.

Reason I'm so desparate is cause I've redrawn the boss, so it's completely different, in another area too (fire area). But if I can't fix the palette problem, then I won't use the boss.
I still cannot figure out why my enemy looks all garbled.... I tried to make a custom "block" using an unused enemy in my hack. Every sprite corresponds correctly to how I want this block to look, but in game it looks like this. Any help please?

I guess your asking how to make a block you can go through? Find the block you want to use and find this on the right hand side of the editor, go up till you see "x-ray fool".

Also, try to stop using multiple posts in a row, go to your previous post and click "modify" in the top right corner. I would hate to see you get banned. Just consider it a friendly warning.  Crying or Very sad

EDIT: I'm not trying to mini-mod just trying to help.

yes, I like makiing blocks invisible so its not in the open.
Question, I was trying to make a slope and Samus doesnt want to run up it only down?

Don't think you can, but if you ever do that, I am fairly certain that just clicking back in your browser should be fine.
I was just wondering if it would be at all possible to program the long beam from the first game into sm  and  fix the beam at the beginning of the game so you would need the long beam?

What kind of block are you trying to use?

Well I'm using an unused enemy, EA7F. Since it's tiles are the same size as other BTS blocks (Speed Booster blocks, SM blocks, etc) I just wrote over it's tiles, creating my custom Missile block. But it just appears completely garbled. I'm going to go through and try changing it's palette values as well.

Make sure you haven't already got at least four DIFFERENT enemies in the room. The game can only have 4 different enemies in any room.

Or you could have changed the pointer for the enemy tiles (highly unlikely, but it would make some sense).

Also does anyone have any clue how to stop Phantoon from changing the palette after death??? Otherwise I can't use my final boss in Impulsion (which you could be thankful for, cause it's insanely hard. No damage would be impossible grin new)
