AHH!!! How the fuck do you do the first damn mockball!?!?!? I don't want to have to resort to TAS.

I did it realtime. You talking bout in Green Brinstar, spikes on ceiling, small room to move, crumbling blocks?

Jump once and get hit by the spikes, land, then while you have invincibility frames, take a step or two, jump, press jump again and down, then down when you hit the ground followed by an immediate right.

I just beat Ridley and got the Varia suit, he was pretty hard! i had to use a save state or two.

EDIT: Just finished the game. the game got super easy after Ridley, Varia suit FTW.

Clear Time: 7:33
Item Collection: 79%

You can put me in the list OP!

I recorded my escape cause I had 16 seconds left on the clock and I thought it'd be epic if i made it. I would have had ample time if i wasn't so sloppy.

Congrats on completion, Mercury.

Solid walljumping skills you showed in that vid, and also a strong Ridley fight if you only required 2 savestates to beat him. Well done.

Another one of my favourite Metroid songs, and once of the most haunting video game songs of all time! I love Super Metroid, and this one is dedicated to Saturn, who made an extremely challenging Super Metroid Hack which I thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks mate.

If you too love Super Metroid and want a challenge, then:

Mercury: do you have sheet music for that, or did you just work it out by ear? Nice playing!

Sorry mate, just by ear like with all my pieces. Thanks for the compliment.

I have a few other Metroid Pieces in their i'm sure you guys will enjoy, Drowned Frigate and my own take on Red Brinstar. I also have Phendrana drifts, Kraids theme, and The Theme of Metroid in one of my medleys. Have a squiz if any of you are interested.
That's some very nice playing Mercury, especially due to the fact that you improvise it all by ear, which is definitely not easy. Respect man.

Also a beautiful song choice, which is one of my favourites alongside Green Brinstar as well. Thank you. Smile
I think this piece fits the piano more than Green Brinstar due to its dark mysterious sound, that was really awesome! I'll be waiting for more. :D
I Beat Super Metroid: Impossible, Hell Yeah!!!!
After countless hours and almost a Logitec Rumblepad2 later...

I have finally completed Super Metroid: Impossible!!!

This was the first Super Metroid hack I've played, and all i have to say is, bravo Saturn, bravo!

Everything in this game is well thought out, and the game play is challenging and exciting! I found myself captivated for hours on end trying to advance through places that are normally a breeze. However good someone thinks they are at the regular SM, this one is a whole new ball game; I personally don't think I've ever gotten nearly 8 hours of game time.

I did, however, look for help when i was stuck. The forum here helped with a few things and BeholdMyStrength's "Let's Play" helped out quite a bit also.

Thanks guys, and thanks Saturn for this Legendary Hack!

Lol, I hope your Logitec controller is fine after all. Razz

Thanks for playing, and congrats on completion!
Finished this after about four days. Overall I'm really impressed at how much fun it was. My smidge of a distain for hard hacks notwithstanding. :) There were only a handful of parts that made me want to rip my hair out (I think all were in Maridia!)

I quite enjoyed lower Norfair... I thought it would have been funny to give the player the Varia suit as soon as you leave Lower Norfair and no longer need it instead of right after Ridely. :) Over all i think the hack is about as tough as a console RBO, except Draygon and Ridley are both waaaaaaaay harder.

Anyway, great work, Saturn! Thanks!

I didn't want to waste any item in Impossible, so the Varia should have at least a bit of use as well. :-)

A 4-day completion is pretty fast. Good job!
Hello Saturn. Watch my Super Metroid Impossible video in my channel:
http://www.youtube.com/user/rd7979  Hmmm... My name has already been in your list
but I have no proof that I finished the game. Finally I made one using my old
savestates. This time I saved the animals. My video also contained Draygon and Ridley
Fights. Hope you enjoy it!
Nice vid rd7979. Good boss strategies you showed there, and saving the animals is a great and rare feat. Well done.
That's amazing. I can't even imagin saving the animals. I made it out with just a couple fractions of a second left. :\

Hey, i just found out that this hack existed, so i though i might try it aswell but i cant get it to work.
I apply the patch, load the rom. the main menu pops up and everything is fine untill the game starts, then it freezes.
I have tries about 5-6 diffrent emulators and its the same problem on all of em, i dont know what to do.
i really want to try this so im asking for help, if you know anything that i might have done wrong, please let me know.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Check the usual things:

Super Metroid (JU) [!] for the ROM.
Headered (3,073K) or unheadered (3,072K) ROM.  You can add / remove the header as needed using SMILE.

Then try using the patch again.
No...this isn't over yet!
I've been lurking around for a while now, and I've got to say that I'm very impressed with the quality of Metroid players here.  When I completed my LP of this hack (holy hell, it's almost been 2 years!), I had the impression that I was pretty salty at SM.  Then I came here a couple months ago, started lurking, and realized that I'd have a hard time even treading water against most of you guys.  Bravo, truly bravo.

Also, I've said this before elsewhere, but I'll say it again here.  This is an outstanding hack Saturn.  Not because it completely revamps the game (because it doesn't), but because of the challenge that's produced from having to pull out every trick in the book and master it completely.  I also appreciate getting my run added to the OP!

Now, on a final note, wasn't there talk of a SMI:2 not too long ago?
Dont tempt fate
then let me personally welcome you to the site BMS, great to have ya around man. totally agree with you on the greatness that is SMI by the way.
Welcome to M2K2 BMS, cool to see you around here.

As for SMI:2, nope, there are no plans for it at the moment.

About 47 days later... i finaly managed to beet SMI and this game/hack will haunt me in my dreams forever. Although this is a really nice hack. Never played anything like this, most of the time i enjoyed playing it :)
I recorded my escape from MB and i edited all my misstakes out.

OMG i'm still looking for that bloody X-ray sorry if i'm being annoying but what are the hints so far. it is just a long topic and i cant be bothered reading all pages.

the x-ray is in LN near the exit in the red room where you have to morph into a ball to get through. stop halfway in the tunnel, lay a PB then jump up, if you're in the right place, you should jump up into the wall and wall jump(or bomb jump)into a hidden room with the xray.

So after watching BMS' playthrough of this that he posted on YouTube, I was easily inspired to dust this son-of-a-gun off and play it once more. It's pretty much beat at this point already in the timespan of a day. However, I could've sworn there was a...

Power Bomb tank hidden behind the wall in the room where the first power bomb was in the original.

I just don't remember how to get to it. Scoured everything I could think of... Once I get that I'll be at 100%

Also, this topic is a little too long for my tired brain to be checking it thoroughly, heh. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Nevermind. I found it. Also...

Animals Saved.
I just started playing this a few days ago, and it's pretty damn incredible.  Great job, Saturn.

I didn't bother reading the whole thread, and I wouldn't be surprised if people had already discovered this, but I got the Space Jump early using a pretty weird method (if this isn't weird to you guys, my bad).  It works as long as you have one reserve tank with more than three energy in it (on manual) and six supers.  You run in, get all four of the Beetoms to stick to you, fire one or two supers while pressing pause, put in some energy from your reserve, unpause, fire a few more, pause, etc., until they're all dead.  I actually thought that was what Saturn wanted us to do, but then I discovered that the plasma beam beats the shit out of those things...

I'm thinking I might be late on this but, Delicious Maridian music playing. Played all by ear? Thats just amazing, that takes real skills. For Saturn: I got half way through this and never completed it, But from what I played, thats one deadly game. Excellent job on it Saturn.
