Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Remember that Digital Mantra's hacks were created for a headered ROM, not unheadered.  99% of hacks usually use the unheadered version, but not his.  The ROM you need should be 3,073 in size, not 3,072.
Phazon Vasteel Autobot
I finished my third run on Eris, 2:08, 100%, Child Saved

Damn, that's pretty frikkin' good.
i had this hack before but i got rid of it and now i want to play it again but for some reason it would get to the part in the title screen where it says 1994 and after it goes to the room, it would freeze and i don't know why. i have the right kind of rom and patch. the patch is 640 and the rom is 307. i have zsnes if that effects anything. someone please help because it is such a cool.
BTW, i got rid of the hack be for because i git a laptop and put my old computer away.

When you say you have the correct ROM, is it the headered version (3,073KB)?

If you have the correct ROM and the correct patch, then there's nothing that can go wrong, unless you get the occasional hack that doesn't like a specific emulator, like Redesign on later ZSNES versions (for some people).
Yoshi is back
Remember also, that the ROM has to be (JU) version, or else it won't work.
does anyone have the UN-headered ROM? i cant find it.....

Download SMILE.
Copy your ROM, so you have a backup.
Open SMILE.
Open your Headered ROM.
Select any room from the flashing drop-down box.
Click Tools > Header > Remove Header.
Job done. Cool
Yoshi is back
Lame.
My revised version of Eris will be available soon.

Changes will be:
*Many rooms have had subtle aesthetic changes. Some much more obvious than others.
*A few areas that had complaints are now easier to get through.
*Beginning is more linear until you get morph. Also more linear until you get bombs. This reduces getting too far ahead of yourself.
*Main upgrade progression is less linear after bombs. This reduces the amount of backtracking.
example: You don't need grapple to get charge, you don't need supers to get spazer, you don't need powerbombs to get ice, etc.
*A few graphical changes to the map and stuff.
*The 'last report' lore is changed entirely.
*Some enemies take less damage.
*Important upgrades and pathways have better hints.
*Some other shit..

Basically, there was stuff that bugged me since release.
You needed PB's for ice? I never got ice, and last time I played it was a year or two ago. Glad you're making changes Dman!
HI mantra you a really did a great hack with eris, my only complain is the damage samus takes is sometimes too high, but anyway great job. more changes are welcome.

Is this etank supposed to be stuck in the ceiling?  Alternatively, how do you get it?

I think you need to shinespark, but it's been a long time.

What's new since the 2009 version?
A lot of things, even though you're still exploring the same planet. Major aesthetic touch ups in numerous locations.
Many items have been moved around for a refreshing 100% experience.
Hints and blockades are given early on, as to prevent a 'world is your oyster' situation when you're underpowered.
Upgrade order has a more strict guideline, giving the game a more challenging and rewarding feel.
While many loved the non-linearity, that is still present in most of Eris.
There's some new coding, a re-vamped HUDD screen, menu/map, a new 'Final Report' Lore and a few extra rooms.
It's easier when it was too hard, and harder when it was too easy.
In general, things just look nicer, and play better as if you were on a console.
This is still Eris, just much better.
Eris remains one of my favorite SM hacks so hearing that it has been improved is always welcome. Sounds like it'll be more balanced and polished overall too, and that's on top of how good it was to begin with. Can't wait to try out this new version.
Coming very soon. Accompanied with a 2 disc 76 track OST.

Currently playing Eris 2012
I've got a problem getting a power bomb expansion. According to the items map, it's located next to the first missile pack, but I can't find a way to get it. Can someone help?
I made a signature, k.
Just beat the game.  I'd like to say that a lot of things were well hidden and fun to find.  unfortunately though, I got lost like 2/3's of the way through it.  I couldn't find the passageway that lead to the spring ball and the door across from it.  The design of the map looked so weird, it was like so clumped up together instead of spread out like the original SM is.  But overall, the hack was amazing, and the visuals were far greater than any other aspect of the game.  I also enjoyed the variation of sounds... if you were low on health, it would make that sound like an atom dying from the spaceship, and the purple metroid room, the metroids made a sound similar to breaking glass from the tube.  I was a little disappointed with the music selection though... not once did I hear green brinstar music, or any crateria music.
Hey DM, I have a quick question. I finished Eris and picked up Eris 2012 and am curious. After getting all 4 artifacts and getting through the room with all the metroids, there's a series of 4 zebetites, but I've only managed to scrape 40 missiles together and I need 44 to get through them all. Is there a way out of this area so I can go back and look harder or am I pretty much boned? The way I came in is blocked by a one-way fall block...

There is an elevator at 9:22. It will let you back up the surface if you missed anything even in the 2009 version.

As far as the zebetites, you can go back to the previous room and kill metroids over and over again to stock up on missiles and go back to destroy the zebetites because they wont appear again after one of them is destroyed.
