For those that don't know...

I am actually working on an LP for this hack. First Time through, I don't have a clue where anything is. yeah.

I'm still working on this one alongside ZC: Lost Isle, so expect more parts soon.
Aw man!  Finding the first item is critical in advancing...  And it took me 4`ev dawg!  aiwebs_014

EPs blind run is quite ammusing. I enjoy watching them.

On a side note. Someone beat Eris in 00:47 on youtube.

I suppose this is the current record for fastest time?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
If you're including TASes, then yes, I would guess so - for now.

Yay. My TAS is finished. Really, the only thing I'm content with is the draygon fight and the Metroid room in the Abyss, just before Phantoon.
Whatever, who cares, it's a walkthrough.
I could write a book of improvements, but who's gonna care. This hack really lacks convenient refills, so I pick up 41% items.
Finish time is 30 minutes.
Uh, for spring ball... the idea is to go to the excavation site and leave in the top right corner, but I take the wave beam route instead.

EDIT: Forgot to mention something about Phantoon. His 2nd (or what is 3rd?), whatever, the round where I don't damage him, he was kinda weird. His hitbox didn't respond to anything, even missiles. Luckily, he had a fast follow-up pattern.

Also, for those who don't really get it; this isn't supposed to show fancy optimization, I even neglected very many input frames because I'm lazy bum. Still, momentum boosts to save single frames were not neglected. Don't ask me why. They make me happy in my belly. Or something.

Nice work.

My emu tell me that I don't have the same file and it goes out of sync when we save the child.
Which ips did you use?

Well, there was a glitch with the original IPS patch (and an updated version in another post or it was re-attached to the first post)....  I'm not sure which of you has what, but that's most likely the problem.  I guess.

EDIT: If Kriole's 'walkthrough' finishes the game (I haven't watched it yet) then maybe you (Danidub) don't have the right/updated ips...?  *shrugs*

Edit2:  Then again, if Danidub is aware of another ips patch of this hack...  aiwebs_013

I could, eventually. Expect news of it tomorrow.

I used the beta-test IPS; iirc, the only thing DMantra changed, since then, was the HP on the red lights blobs (120 -> 100?, not sure). Since it's in the child-room, I suspect you use some weird fix-version, which might add lagframes or something. What do I know.
Sweet and truly unique TAS work, Kriole. The quality is amazing for the short production time, and the route choice seems to be flawless as well. Good job!
Greetings, I just completed this wonderful hack, and let me just say to the creator that it was absolutely amazing!  Awesome level/graphic design, truly a wonderful experience on the whole.

I have a question though, i finished with 78% at 7:18, however I completed the game without
springball
any suit upgrade
plasma
wave
fighting draygon

So my question is, did i miss a big portion of the hack? It seemed like everywhere else on the map I would have needed
either springball or gravity suit to continue, so instead I went to the artifact chozo since I had them all after getting space jump.

I didn't want to read through this thread to find out as I didn't want to spoil anything.  One of the reasons this hack was so much fun for me was the unknown (am-i-supposed-to-be-here?) factor.  The only time I checked a spoiler was to figure out where morphball and bombs were, after that I played through using only my memory and exploration skills.  But I've looked all over and it seemed like there's nowhere else to go except to the LN area. I will say that..
this made for a very interesting heated run toward the end!  At the time I thought it was intended, the energy/missle refill from the creature that spits out the little fleas when you shoot it (sorry don't know the name, but there was one right before ridley) provided the perfect opportunity for a crystal flash.  And trying to solve to puzzle in the room with the metroid was quite fun as well.

Unless I'm wrong and all this was intended? I've read just a few posts in the past few pages so I know that Draygon is in there somewhere.. was it meant to be optional? If someone could let me know without revealing too much that'd be nice, as I want to fully experience this great hack as it was intended.
There is a suit available in the game, but it's not required. If you want to get it, you should start by finding Spring Ball, which is
behind a metal door in the upper-right area of the map.
Playing Super Metroid non-stop since 1994 =)
Is there a map with item locations? I've only gotten 97%, and after spending hours searching, I must say I've failed miserably  grin new
"Balls"
This is a very good hack. I am trying to get it to patch in and work... I REALLY WANT TO PLAY IT

I haven't watched the run yet but I assume that it is because you have shot him with the Plasma Beam. His invulnerability-time only ticks down during the frames where his eye is open, and while that isn't normally a problem since it is very short/non existent for missiles and other Beams, Plasma (as you know) gives a much longer invulnerability-time.

The map will be released 09/09/2009

Edit: The map will be released only in december.
      Sorry, it's a misunderstanding.

Breathe in the Future, Breathe out the Past
Sorry to burst your bubble danidub, I love the maps you've made so far but as for an item map, september is too soon.

This is a hack based on exploration and I pretty much released it only a month ago. As for area maps and all that, go for it.

I suggest you release the item map either in november or december. I just really don't want to spoil this hack after only 1 month.

If that bugs some of you guys, then I'll allow for a major items only location map in september for those still having trouble with progression (if there still are any).

Oh and thanks for playing and all that jazz..

As for the guy that asked the Xenogears questions, yes. That is my favorite RPG and I derive a lot of names and terminology from it into my hacks. Check Golden Torizo's chamber again, you'll see the zohar modifier. lul
Armor Guardian
I have practically half of the "Planet Eris" map filled in so far and all I have is the Morphing Ball and two missile packs. I feel lost (which is good).

Also, the aesthetics are very nice.
This hack is utter crap. Did no one every test it?

In that very room on the screenshot you get stuck and can't exit anymore.
You can easily get the morph in that bizarre water room (protip: making water tiles you an walk on is just weird and looks fucking stupid) and then you can get below the catwalk at the room on the screenshot.
But there is no way to get out again, it would require the jump ball, but you don#t have it yet.

In the room where you get the morph ball you can also get stuck in several places if you land on the ground.

Seriously, what the fuck were you thinking?

And I REALLY don't wanna hear "but you're not supposed to..." because if you churn something like this where the player has no idea where to go, it's obvious he'll go anywhere. Not to mention, the most important dogma in game design is to know that players will always do things you don't expect, so you have to make absolutely sure a player cannot ever fuck his game up, by exploring or accident.

So, how about you actually fix that piece of shit?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
1, You cannot get stuck in the Morph Ball room.  You just jump from the right-hand ledge onto the platform, and then up to the top.

2, The room you're on about getting stuck is where you're supposed to go.  All you have to do is morph in mid-air, by simply jumping and pressing down twice.

3, Learn some manners, please.
Well that post sure added some contrast to this thread.
Almost happy

Lol, you suck, come back when you don't suck so much. This hack is for people who doesn't suck as much as you do.

What makes you think you need springball to get out of the room where you get morph ball?  Why don't you go to the main site and learn a couple things about how to play super metroid before blaming your lack of skill on the game designer.
