What'd you say?
Yellow: How the hell didn't I spot that? Lol
Green: I have changed that corner tile to a sloped tile.
Blue: I put that there so people can see exactly where the item will be, so it wont be in the final product.
Purple: Wow, thank you for that advice, I never would have thought of that.

Dave: I know it's square-ish, but that is kinda required as I have used all the allotted are for this. Besides, you should have seen it before I put those slopes in lol.

Yoshi is back
Ok, If it's required then that's ok, I'll post up my next BIG room in like an hour. I liked your Stardust Landing site, I'll take that and make it a room in my hack but Rework it so it's not Plagiarism.

Edit: Never mind, I've not got the space on my map.
What'd you say?
I'm sorry.

When I was still in my previous hacking streak, it seems that I had neglected my hack thread, so I will bring everyone up to speed:

I completely restarted Supernova. I have gotten new palettes and new scenery custom made for me. I'm not very far, but I have a decent amount done. I will now show you a few rooms (the screwed up backgrounds look good in-game):

That's the stuff, David. Good job. Keep 'er up, aiwebs_004
Those do look pretty sweet, especially the first three of them.

Great work, Tyjet.  Every time I see them I'm still surprised how much more rounded everything looks with the custom slopes.  Keep me posted.
I'm lovin' it.

Now that I'm back, I'll be working on this slowly, so I'll keep everyone updated.
Phazon Vasteel Autobot
Nice to hear that.
Wow, I'm using my Wii for this. I hate it. I can't login AND my dad is on the main computer.
What'd you say?
I decided it would be appropriate to release a small public beta for everyone to play around with. It is not very big and is pretty much over after you get bomb, there are a few extra items to be found though.

Everyone thank Sadiztyk Fish (MetConst) for helping me a game breaking issue, allowing this release! Thank you!

Also, please help me out by giving me feedback, and be harsh!

one of your scrolls is fucked, and I found the access missiles =) It was great.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Is this much different from the test version you gave me a while back?
Yeah, as Dave said, on the way back from getting the missiles one of the scrolls isn't setup properly. I think it's two rooms west of the landing site, but in the room in question the scroll doesn't end when you get to the door like it should, so that instead of "zoning" when you get to the edge of the screen the door is in the middle of the room and it threw off the graphics for the rest of the time I was testing. Fortunately, that was the biggest issue I ran into so that's a good sign overall.

The other two are smaller, but still worth mentioning. The first is that there's a small bit of slowdown in one of those rooms on the way to the missiles due to the amount of enemies that appear at once. The other is that once you exit the Torizo's room, Ridley's theme starts playing until you get back to the room where the theme had originally changed to the one that plays on your way to the Wrecked Ship in the original game.

But based on what I saw, it seems like things are going in the right direction. I didn't come across any permastuck areas or broken slopes, and the aesthetics were great in-game. It's a minor touch, but I liked the trick you used in the landing site to switch from the exterior background to the interior one and make it look natural. Also liked what you did with the Torizo's room as well because it's a change of pace from what I usually see in hacks and even something as simple as what you did changes up the battle enough to make it different from normal.

Quitetus: All it is, is the bomb torizo and a few big rooms, added.

Prime: Ok, but did you find the other missiles?

David: Its looking great, other than that scroll, I went into SMILE and made it red, so i could see the hack, but thats it. other than that, its great!

I'm not sure why that one scroll is red, I keep changing to to blue but it doesn't want to stay. I moved some enemies around on the way to the first missiles to reduce the lag. And as far as music goes, I have yet to even touch it, so that is a known thing.

Quietus, since what you tested, I believe I have added a few new rooms. I just wanted to get a larger base of opinions and thoughts on this.

I actually first discovered this trick a couple years back when making Stardust, and this trick is already used twice in the public beta.
Quote from DaveBatista:

Actually no, I hadn't found anything other than morph, the first missiles, and the bombs. There were a few rooms that might have been open still, including one that had acid in it, so I didn't check out everything that was available to me. Part of that was because of that scrolling bug, but if I really wanted to I could probably load up Smile, setup Samus in the state I'd be in after getting the first missile pack but put her past the scroll bug, and play from there. Now that I mention it I may just end up doing that so I can also see what each room is supposed to look like without all of the tiling errors.

I'm not saying anything on where missiles are, until the full thing is out
:P
can anyone of you tell me how to hack? i looked at thousands of websites fot ages and found nothing please respond :)

Assuming you're serious, you should start by reading the Moonedit FAQ, which covers some of the basics.  If you've got time, you could flick through the SMILE help thread.  It's very long, but has a lot of helpful information.  After that, you could watch some tutorial videos on Youtube.

There's also a beginner's guide here, which covers the basics of SMILE.
hey Qietus my smile is different and i dont see any hex please help
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
What do you mean SMILE is 'different'?

Also, SMILE won't do anything hex related - beyond the basics anyway.  For that, you'll need HxD, which is free, and fairly easy to get to grips with.
