Other than redesign which (as far as I've played it) seemed more challenging but not totally ridiculous, Are there any other hacks of reasonable quality that may offer more challenge, but without requiring you to perfectly master every uber technique in the book? i.e.  it's harder overall but not artificially by just throwing up blocks and barriers that you need to do crazy stuff like horizontal bomb jumping and such for?  Redesign is probably the model of what i'm talking about. Super Metroid Impossible is an example of what i'm NOT talking about. (for me, SMI is virtually impossible. There's some tricks I just cant seem to get the hang of. Heck, i can't even pull off mockballs consistently. I don't know why.)

Green-Kirby, ROAR!
Well there are a few I think. SFT and all the other hacks on that Japanese site.

They are not that many though.
I mean if I made a hack like SMI it would get done soon. But doing a bigger hack with more advanced stuff take time. That and I am a bit lazy <_<
But if you are looking for new things that are not in redesign quality but still a bit harder. I suggest you have a look at EPs site and that Japanese site.
If I remember right, Legacy and SFI are of moderate difficulty (although more difficult than the original SM for sure). Dependence is probably on par with their challenge level, with probably some more difficult bosses in some cases, depending on which bosses you fight and in what order (like Gold Torizo without Plasma). Limit had a pretty good challenge level, especially near the end. And while it's only a mini-hack, if I recall correctly, Reverse had some definite challenge as well.
