I'm not really sure if this has been done before, but I just did it, which makes me happy. I also, due to the large number of times I missed the first pirate, have come to love VBA and its assignable shortcut keys.

Well, here it is. My first and probably only potentially real contribution to this site. I currently only have a .VMV/VM0 of it, but over the weekend, I should be able to get a vid to YT.

While I'm thinking of it, would it be possible to literally create a ROM? I was thinking that a ROM that just showed button presses would be extremely useful for educational purposes...

Edit: Hard mode version.

If you're making a vmv/vm0, you're probably not using the latest VBA version. Bisqwit's site has a link in the forums. Using that would make a vbm file.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
Use the normal VBA and producing a VM0/VMU proves that he didn't use any rerecords or slowdown
Um, the vid won't work for me, is there something special I need to do?

Download the standard vba from http://vba.ngemu.com/

Actually, when watching a movie (or just playing the game), you can already do that.

Tools -> imput display

Shows all button presses.

I don't seem to have that option... Is that in the newest version?

It's only in the rerecording (TAS) version

hm, I did not found the slow-down Button for VBA. Where is it?

Download this version of VBA http://www.filespace.org/nitsuja/vba-rerecording-20.zip and it's "-" as default for slower (which you can press multiple times)

thanks man. Works fine. I searched google for hours without finding the answer. This community is great ;)

Wow...

Wow.

I just did it again, this time in hard mode (that means there are more spotlights in the rooms that have them) and with much fewer mistakes. There were only three real ones this time, which shaved off a good amount of time, and a few shortcuts I saw in ajbolt89's 10% (I think) on SDA helped a bit, too.

It's still VMV/0, because I'm too lazy to go through the long process of assigning a shortcut key to the other version of VBA, but it will still work.

More good news: I'll make a tutorial on this if I can get an avi with good audio synch (which I don't seem to be able to, so I may just put external audio to it). It won't really concern most people, but it's possible that not getting caught in several places could make a run a few seconds faster, what with not having to wait for shutters to open, etc.

What's weird is that I did this on my second try of the day, with the first ending in me getting caught by the first pirate (as usual).

Enjoy my new Hard Mode Single Segment Perfect Stealth.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to attract attention to my new tutorial on how to do this.

Nice video, and nice use of some Castlevania music there. :)
