Should this forum get an Avatar Gallery?
yes (18)
no (2)
you may have seen such a gallery on other forums. basically, if you don't have an avatar, you go there to pick one of the pre-made ones for yourself. d.zero has offered to make us some bad ass avatars to go in the gallery. i myself can probably contribute several as well.

my friends, before you say anything, the bandwidth cost of this would be negligible, probably less than a tenth of a percent a month. pretty much any file under a meg is not going to affect my situation unless the entire population of china suddenly develops a taste for metroid.

only drawback i can think of regarding the avatar gallery is hella people using the same avatar and making it hard to follow discussions (see the samus.co.uk forum for examples).

vote away.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I hate seeing people without avitars, but I also hate seeing people with the same avitar. So I'm gonna vote yes under the condition that there will be hella avitars in the gallery.
I will also contribute, but I think they should also follow a general standard - 100x100 maybe?
I'll be damn happy to make avatars for the site.

And yeah, I voted yes.
Everybody likes making avatars.  8)

Yeah, bring on the gallery.  When you said in another thread that that one avatar was so good it should go in an avatar gallery, I went looking for the gallery.  Laughing  Silly me, it didn't exist.

at this time, the upper limit is 120x120. so i guess that should be the standard unless someone thinks i should reduce it to 100x100 and invalidate a bunch of avatars. ;)

As opposed to hella people having no avatar whatsoever? I think that's a pretty weak drawback, so I'm voting yes too.

I mean, keep the maximum, but have all of the standard avatars stay at one size.  One forum I frequent allows up to 160x160, but the premade avatars are 100x100.

yeah, ten pixels on each side is not going to make a lot of difference. the problem is that i can't really mandate a standard size due to the set-pixel nature of a lot of metroid avatar sources (gba/snes caps, etc).
I vote yes for the people to have pretty-pictured posts due to simple-mindedness at the moment.

As Nate already stated, I'm more than willing to make some customs, animated or not. Hence, I voted yes. But in terms of size and stuff, I'd suggest that the premade gallery only has 100x100 avs, to make controlling everything a little easier. Also, the filesize should be a little limited, so as not to waste too much of Nate's bandwidth.

Oh, and by the way, start suggesting what would you like to see, and posting links to official artwork galleries for me to collect and start making avs. ;)
wonder who voted no.

Well, I think the bulk of it should be Metroid related, since that's what this forum is all about. But there should also be some other misc videogame avitars, and maybe just some general crap that people might want, like one of Fonzie giving the eeeeey.

Thanks, Tooz, but I think that's a little obvious. :P What I meant was for people to start suggesting what kind of imagery they want to see, if they want special F/X on them, and stuff like that. And, since my Metroid image database is pretty short, I'll have to ask of people to hand down some links to official artwork for me to start working on. ^_^
Okay, you win Dominican. Gimme ten minutes.
Metroid Prime:
Samus in-game
Samus signature pose
In-game Morphball
Metroid Prime (In-shell)
Save Station
Elite Pirate
Samus NP Cover
Samus "Max-Payne"
Sheegoth
Samus Ship
Phazon Samus
Furry Something
Various Sketch Poses
Flying Space Pirate
Baby Sheegoth

I'll get you some more later. Sorry for the watermarks.
The first 3 are asking me to FTP into nintendo.com :x
Yes, make sure you have some Ridley and Kraid.

I second the notion.

I've dug up some Fusion artwork:
Samus posing
Samus on monkey bars
Samus gripping the edge of a platform
The first boss (I can never remember its name)
Space Pirate
Core-X
Samus' ship
Metroid
Hornoad

Here's a couple of Zero Mission pics too:
Samus in her ship
Samus close-up

Sorry, but all those keep asking me for ID and password, which I don't currently have. I'd suggest you to save them to your HD, sign up for some webspace somewhere, and upload them there.

The top three of those ask me for a username and password, but the rest work fine for me. Did you check all of those, or only the first one?
直死の魔眼使い
They all do ask me for a password.
some avatars from the last metroid have been added to start the avatar gallery. any further submissions would be greatly appreciated.

As every single submission so far breaks this rule, I'm guessing it no longer applies.

I've gone ahead and produced a few simplistic avatars that the gallery can have. I apologise for them not being particularly great, but you're welcome to them if you want.
