Light of Day has it exactly.

I never said i wanted those changes made to Super Metroid, I love the game the way it is, however, i just know thats the changes that would have to happen in order for it to be accepted.

It's also in the way that I'm kinda selfish, I understand theamount of things they would have to try to do with super metroid, and you never know, they could succeed with upgrading it in all those ways.
But, if they didn't succeed, I still have my lovely SNES and my old Super Metroid cartridge for the orginal version.

Hell, even if they did succeed, i would still have the old original on my SNES.

People often bash a game's story, but they completely ignore story elements besides plot. A story is more than a plotline; it also includes theme, setting, characterization, ect. When people say crap like "Metroid's story sucks" they're really saying "Metroid's plot sucks" and refuse to acknowlege the other story elements, which are present in spades.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
And I said those reasons given by "casual gamers" were stupid, not you.  :)

If the game isn't good enough for the casual gamer, then so be it.  They personally wouldn't give 2 craps, as it isn't good enough for them.

Just as I won't give 2 craps about Madden 2005 and GTA5.  Doesn't keep me awake at night, nor them.
I think that if Nintendo were to "remake" Super Metroid, they should update the graphics if they feel like it and add an optional hint system.  I think that an optional hint system for today's gamers would be a good idea.  Those who want the game to do the thinking for them are happy, and those that like to explore on their own would be happy.  I think that being able to take Super Metroid on the go would be awesome.

Hm, people complain always about the hint system in newer Metroids...

Had the US version of Super no game guide?
In Germany it was in a big box (those who normaly only had RPGs like "Secret of Mana" aka "Seiken Densetsu 2" aka no idea how it was called in the US.) with a full guide in it.

All maps, all upgrades. Primes or ZMs hint system is a riddle compared to this.

Edit: Oh, I voted for 'no', I think its enough with remakes, make something fresh new!
3D, no.
2D, maybe.

Yes, we had it.  But instead of coming packaged with the game, you had to order it from Nintendo for $15.
MOST DEFINITELY YES! I would be happy to hand out £30 of my hard earned (yeah right) dosh for a GBA version of Super Metroid!

It was the first Metroid game I ever played and will always be my favourite. I can remember getting lost sooo often... Even more so than I did in Metroid II, MF or MP!

I would want it on GBA with enhanced graphics and no more. Every item and boss left exactly where they are.

Would be cool to have a link up with it to Metroid Prime2 ... Maybe unlock a new gallery or new weapon (*drool* hyper beam in MP2)
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
If the port is to GBA, there would HAVE to be some room tweakage, simply because of the small screen size. One room SOMEWHERE would get shortened/led to simply so you could see where you were going.

The only other change that would probably have to go through would be taking out the murder beam glitch (and possibly the blue suit). The murder beam is just an uber glitch; the game is pretty much royally confused. That is NOT going through.

One thing I really would LIKE them to do is make the modern conviences from ZM: Less crazy item switching, no seperate run button, generally controls that weren't made by a programmer who was on crack. SM's default control scheme was ridiculous. Also, you could throw in the seconds on the game clock and gallery style endings; I'm not one of those oglers, but Samus w/o suit in SM was just plain fugly. Really, really fugly.

Oooh.... Hard mode. That would be AWSOME.

Am I the only person on the planet who uses it just fine?
While I do prefer B, Y, and A for Jump, Shot, and Dash respectively, I can still play with the normal control setting just fine.  It's just a preference thing.

That's my prefered control sceme, too. It's also the default controls for the SNES Megaman X games, which would be why I find it so much easier than the default controls.

Swap A for X to dash, and that's me in MMX and SM.
<-- Look. Tis Megaman X. Drawn by me :P (just part of it tho. Had to shrink it down to fit as an avatar.)

I use the Y = shoot, B = Jump A = Dash cotnrols too. I've only played Megaman X on PC so my controls on it are different :P

If SM went to GBA I think this is what the controls would be

A - Jump
B - Shoot
Run = automatic
L = Aim
R = Switch weapon (missile, S Missile, Power bomb etc.)
Start = Map / Pause

Anything I've missed?

Murder Beam... Thats the combination of ALL beams including plasma and spazer rite? How'd you get that anyway? And whats the blue suit.

you should really post the entire thing under The Arts so we can view all view it, because it looks pretty good.
You'll need to wait until I get home. I'm in college atm and don't have the full pic on me :P

Sorry to get off topic, but can anyone fill me in with the Murder Beam data, so I can replicate it in my game and see its Über-Coolness factor for myself? :P

Ah, the murder beam. Probably the closest we'll see a video game come to screaming in pain without causing physical harm to the cartridge/disc.

If I remeber correctly, you have to have both the spazer and plasma equipped at the same time. You do this by having the spazer equipped, then select the speed booseter. Press left and hit the button to equip/de-equip something at the same time. If your timing is slightly off, you'll either de-equip the speed booster, or equip plasma normally and de-equip spazer. If you get it just right, though, plasma will equip, spazer will stay equipped, and the display will glitch very slightly. You're now ready to murderize your game, and in more ways than you might think.

Firing with both plasma and spazer equipped can have numerous effects, depending on what other beams are equipped and where you do it. You can get the murder beam like in Red Scarlet's run, or you can just plain crash the game. You can even get the space/time beam from this glitch (an interesting bug where firing the spazer/plasma beam under the right circumstances resets the game. All bosses and items and so on are restored, but you still have the items you've already piced up, allowing you to grab items twice and finish the game with greater than 100% items).

I'll let someone else fill you in on exactly where you can use the murder beam, or you can probably find out about it at GameFAQs. That's where I found out all I know about it.

I would suggest doing your murder beam experimentation on a rom. Doing it improperly on your cart could erase your saved data.
Best to do it on emulator then ;) ... WAIT THAT WUD CRASH THE PC!!! LOL!
That sounds horribly awesome, Light of Day.

Maybe I'll give it a go with an emulator sometime.
I did it on a cart earlier and my save is still in tact, but that doesn't really mean it will be every time.  I don't think I've ever felt so sorry for a game before seeing what it caused XD
Is there a video clip or something somewhere where I could see this murder beam in action! I really wanna see the chaos it causes.
