Okay, it's a Thursday afternoon, and I'm bored. So, to alleviate my boredom, I'll be reviewing random things! If you want me to review something, just suggest it, and if I've seen it or feel like seeing it, I'll review it. First off, Cowboy Bebop.
Cowboy Bebop, for those of you who don't know, is an Anime made by Sunrise Entertainment. It's set in Earth's future, when humans have began populating the solar system. Our main characters, Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed (female) and Ein (dog) are bounty hunters just trying to get by. They take what they can get, and give nothing back (especially Faye). They have numerous adventures traipsing around the solar system, from stopping an Eco-Terrorist group (think Greenpeace) from turning everyone on Ganymede into apes to facing off with a cowboy. Some episodes are funny, some sad, but all are unique (especially a few near the end, but they get on the dumb side of unique).
The animation style, while not original (Lupin III viewers know what I'm talking about) certainly adds to the story. Looking more realistic than cartoonish, you start to think of them as real people. There's not much of a storyline through the whole series, with 21 filler episodes and 5 episodes of main plot, but every story is different, while retaining the bounty hunting theme. There are also some references to modern pop culture, most of which are pretty funny. One of the series' biggest strengths, however, is the music. This series centers around music (I mean, cmon, they have the word Bebop in the name), and a lot of the music is really catchy. The main theme, for example, is a jazzy 20's style piece. Every episode has a reference to a song or style in it's title, and it's sometimes fun to see how much they poke fun at modern society, especially America.
Overall, this is a really solid, entertaining series. If you haven't seen it yet, I strongly suggest you do. 4.8/5
ps. My avatar is Sid Vicious, the "bad guy" of the series.
