This trick is basically taking advantage of an area where Serris can't hit you at all, but you can hit it very easily. Simply stand on the tile in the pool of water that is 2nd from the farthest left tile. (Next to the door that you came through to get into the room) and you'll see that the tile is divided into 2 halves by a row of dots. Have Samus kneel on the side closest to the door and Serris won't be able to hit you, but you can hit it easily when its head pops up through the far left tile. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, then please send in a video (or tell me how to send one in).

This is a picture of the exact spot. It has to be pixel perfect, but it does work.

go 1% single segment. good find.
Thanks. I'll try and make a video of the trick. The trick works on both the console and the emulator versions. Thought I'd let you know.

I've got the movie file saved on my GBA emulator, but I don't think it'll play anywhere other than on my emu. Could someone please either tell me how to do it, or possibly make the video themselves?
Thanks all.

A problem comes after this though. How are you gonna be able to survive the core-X?

And I don't see how a trick with serris will help in the overall difficulty of a 1%SS. >_>

well, d.darch died there ~6% of the time. ;P

Well, assuming that jumping out of the water just as Serris starts to explode, thus getting into a safe place to fight Core-X isn't beyond you, this is helpful. It worked for me.
There is an easier trick. Just hang on the ceiling while its sparking, on the third platform from the left.

If you see it breach the water and submerge right over the third platform, get off the ceiling because its about to come up there. Then when it passes hang from the ceiling again. I'll try to take a picture to explain better later. Hope this helps.

edit: Ok, I ninja'd this pic from the Double core X shot on the site.

Hang where the red X is. If you see serris take the blue path in any direction jump down quickly. As long as you do that you will never get hit when serris is shinesparking.

Remember, this is on the third platform from the left.
red chamber dream
That's...easier?
Assuming that actually having to dodge the boss as opposed to just sitting there laughing as the boss cannot hit you at all is easier....

Seriously Starman, did you even read my first post? Regardless of what Serris does, he cannot hit you at all using my trick. You could just leave the game running and the battle wouldn't end unless the batteries ran out. That is the definition of trick.
I think he meant easier in regard to battling the core-x afterwards. But it doesn't seem to be that hard to get out of the water in time.
Which is what I've been trying to explain. Smops has no problems, I have no problems. Who has the problems?!
Me!  Wait no, I haven't tried it yet, but Fusion's next on my list of 100% runs.  Sounds like a fun trick to try.

How would this make 1% runs easier? I guess it would help a little, unless Im missing something. Still a nice find though.

putting yourself in a position (literally and figurativley) where you can damage the boss and the boss being able to do nothing about it is always going to make runs easier especially runs where things like health are at a premium. and that is one mother of a find sauske_kun, good job
Can't you do essentialy the same thing by hanging on the wall by the exit door side?  That is the trick I always use and I never get hit my serris.  Plus since you are automaticaly placed in the proper position by climbing to the very top there is no possibility of error and getting hit.

Here is a diagram drawn out since I dont want to go through the game again to that point

bah, a pox upon not being able to use more than one space.
Cook of the Sea
Try using code tags.
x
x
x=samus

= climbable wall

------ = platform

S=where serris turns

+
+
+ door

Code:
                  +
                  +
          S      +
 -------  S   x=
              S x=
              S x=

Its crude at best, but I can't get a ss since I dont have a gameboy player for gamecube nor do I have a fusion rom.  I looked around for a while and in sess's 1% and the rest of the fusion section none ventures near the wall.

But looking at sess's run reminded me of a little trick I know.  If you space jump with a charge and then press the missle button you will fire off your shot and keep your space jump without going to a falling position.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
but what about when it comes from the ceiling. that always gets me atleast twice

Code:
S=Serris
A=Samus
____=Boundary
,,,,,,,,=Ladder
____________
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  SSSSSSS          |
 SSSSSSSSS          |
SS       SS    A ,|
             SS AA,|
               A ,|
                  A

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Only problem is, I'm still trying to figure out how to get a good video of it using my emu. I've got VisualBoy Advance, so if anyone knows anything about making a video from this (or any other way), I'd greatly, greatly appreciate it.

I've tested it and you can still get hit there, but it doesn't happen that often. On one of Serris's turns it clips Samus's legs and knocks her off the ladder.
Under Tools > Record, I found a 'Start AVI recording'  on my VBA 1.5, which I've used for humourous effect...however, on my VBA 1.7, there's also an option to do a movie record. I'm assuming the movie option includes the sound.
Mine has a movie record as well, but it runs the movie in VMV format, and this format will only run on my emu. Does anyone know how to change the format and get it to run separately?
