Problem is, some rooms can appear totally innocuous and harmless, and all you have to do is enter it by another way and a door you may have used earlier on will be a trap, or even a loop. There's no way to tell which ones do it, but it's not a random thing.
On a side note, I'd love it if, when they remake Super Metroid for the GBA/DS (Which, according to NGC magazine, they are), they have the secret worlds as, er, secret worlds, but all jazzed up. That would rock.
