Going through the Hunters ROM (don't ask for it), I found:

Quote:
PowerBomb_Anim.bin.PowerBomb_Model.bin

So apparently Nintendo was originally planning on putting in the power bomb. Wonder what else they scrapped?

EDIT: Here's what might be the Electro Lob from First Hunt:

Quote:
electroCharge_PS.bin.electroChargeNA_PS.bin.electroHit_PS.bin.electroProjectile_PS.bin!electroProjectileUncharged_PS.bin
Thread title:
Phazon level: 83%
cool, can you find any unused bosses such as crocomire in MZM??
How do you go through a ROM?  Do you text dump or something?  Can you give me the steps on how to do it?
Heh, that's pretty cool. I wonder why they took out power bombs? Maybe cuz they wanted to have every weapon in multiplayer, but it didn't work out for that, so they just scrapped it. But probably not.
jackie: First find the ROM, then open it in a hex editor. Then you can look through it.

The Electro thing might not be the Electro Lob; it might simply be the Volt Driver.

EDIT: Found some new stuff.

The level from e3 (anyone here see MPH at e3? Did it have a special level?):

Quote:
e3leve.l-..1...0gor.eab2.p5@ct0f1_dm16p.9

Quote:
e3Level.arc

Quote:
e3Level_Ent.bin

Quote:
e3Level_CTF_Node.bin.e3Level_Node.bin

Quote:
e3level_tex.bin

Quote:
e3level_Model.bin

The rest is junk that makes no sense. Also, the modes from First Hunt, next to something labeled "testlevel":

Quote:
regulator_Ent.bin.survivor_Ent.bin.testlevel_Ent.bin.testLevelAbe1_Ent.bin

Quote:
regulator_Node.bin.survivor_Node.bin.testLevel_Node.bin.testLevelAbe1_Node.bin

Also, I think the Electro Lob is actually Volt Driver, considering I think I found Judicator and the ROM calls it "crystal".
now go find about where all the metroid went too....
Already looked. It seems the Metroid's been removed since First Hunt.
yea, and it just hit me right now, could it be possible that the E3 level is really the level from the firsthunt demo? i mean, they DID afterall use the area from the morphball demo thingy in the full game afterall...
Please don't romulate - pay Nintendo for it's hard work.

dsgraph by mike260, a viewer for First Hunt models, works on the final release as well.  A green room (Gorea's ?) and Samus' and Sylux's ship look nifty.

Below are version differences in text found using 'diff' against text extracted from the games with a combination of 'strings' and a program to read the special string files. The differences have been highlighted with bold italicized text for your convenience. The only text differences in the Japanese version occur with Japanese text. Aside from text, md5 sums show that many other differences occur from version to version (menu components, character models, etc). The movies remain identical.

One of the error messages in the original game had the wrong phone number. 1-800-865-1672 is wrong, 1-800-895-1672 is correct.
Hunters text and the corrected (and hidden?) text in the EU version:

My ROM was screwed up (some stuff that should've been there wasn't there) so I got a new one, and found:

Quote:
METROID_CHARGE.METROID_DAMAGE.METROID_DIE.METROID_FLY

Apparently I was wrong about Metroids not being in the game.
I knew they wouldn't remove it.
Save Station:

Quote:
....NSAVE STATION\would you like to save your progress?

Haven't found anything more than that, though. The text before the slash appears in a message box on the top screen, and the stuff after the slash appears in the lower screen.

Ah, the wonders of stub code.
Here's a scrapped gunship transmission:

Quote:
»GGUNSHIP TRANSMISSION\origin of telepathic message identified as prisoner GOREA. threat analysis: strategic lure for an unwitting liberator.

It was probably removed because it made it sound like Gorea made up the ultimate weapon and it doesn't exist after all. Other than that, though, they shouldn't have removed it; it makes sense storywise.

EDIT: :( Someone on another forum made an observation and it turns out the power bombs are actually Trocras. Guess they weren't putting them in after all. Wonder why they called it that, though.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that's how it was supposed to be... Gorea made up the ultimate power (not weapon) stuff himself. I think they removed that one because it's too much info, too fast, and I agree. You can construct most of that more slowly through the scans, which is how MP stories work.
But the Ultimate Power does exist. It's the Omega Cannon. That transmission makes it seem like there is no Omega Cannon, and obviously there is.

IHMO the Omega Cannon hardly counts as ultimate power.
My first thoughts after I'd beaten the game and actually started using my brain again was that Gorea WAS the ultimate weapon. Just "ultimate weapon" was probably a mistranslation or something. I dunno. Gorea making it up makes more sense.

I wonder how he went about sending messages from a dimension that's supposedly totally sealed off, though?
maybe the message was time-delayed.

The game's full of plot holes and crap, so I'm not sure I even bothered to try and figure that out. Let's just say he did it the same way Metroid Prime took the Pirate's weapons.

And once again, it's ultimate power, not ultimate weapon. (Or, more precisely, "The secret to ultimate power".)
Some of the stuff you found would have made this game even better, like actual Metroids, the Gorea transmission, save points, etc.
lol no way
Mmm... I wish this game made more sense, it had such potential. All these little things are really neat, I'm glad there's still interesting things to this game outside of the multiplayer. Which is also fairly uninteresting, in my opinion.
