I beat MP a few years ago. Recently I started to replay it, only so that I could get 100%.

Throughout the entire game I was very, very thorough in scanning everything. I'm now almost at the end of the game. The only thing I have left to do is get some more artifacts and go through all the Impact Crater stuff.

I took a look online and found out that I did in fact scan everything that I could have scanned up until this point (i.e. everything but Ridley, MP, and Impact Crater stuff). There's only one thing I forgot to scan...the Ice Shriekbat. And apparently once you get the Thermal Visor, the Ice Shriekbats mysteriously dissapear. EPIC FAIL.

So I'm counting on you guys to help me out. I know that people glitch MP like it's their job, so I'm sure it's possible to get those stupid bats back. Jiggling the memory card? Scratching the disk? I don't know, I just know it's possible. Please someone help me out, I don't want to think all of this effort was a waste.

Yo.
Is playing through the game again really that hard? aiwebs_009
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Once those bats are gone they're gone for good, manhandling memory cards or the disc will do nothing for you.

At least scans don't count towards completion percentage.
Scans don't count towards completion percentage...? I was pretty sure they did.

They do not, otherwise those 100% runs on SDA would be really, really boring.

And many people would have given up on seeing the 100% ending because of those bats.

I see. Wow. I'm a bit relieved now.

So what's the point of the logbook anyway? And are there any powerups that mysteriously disappear like the bats did?
the ice shreikbat is the scan i missed too when i tried a 100% scan run. good place to get them before they're gone is two rooms before the boost ball.
So do I need to have a complete logbook (including the Ice Shriekbat) to see the 100% ending? I'm finding conflicting information online...

No you don't. As I said, scans don't count towards completion percentage and therefore have no effect on the ending you get. Anything telling you otherwise is lying and stupid.

Interesting. Ok, thank you. I only wish I knew that when I started the game.

the only thing getting all the scans does is unlock the image galleries, which are actually pretty cool. if you're not into that sort of thing, don't worry about it.

And I'm sure I could find the image galleries online anyway (but then again, same goes for the 100% ending).

And your forum signature...it made me think there were ants crawling around in my screen. Words cannot explain the confusion.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
i used to think the same way back when the game was out but it's easy to notice scans don't count towards 100% because of getting all items.

maybe some people are confused because scans have their own % in the PAL versions... but still, that only helps for image galleries.
Acclaimed Threshold
Constant Sorrows
100% scans tormented me for a long time, mostly Ridley. I'd play on Hard, Ridley would smack me around the first few attempts when I'd actually remember to scan, then when I finally beat him I'd save and then realize the one time I won was the one time I forgot to scan.

I also got screwed over by missing some scans via the Thermal Visor skip (or maybe it's getting the visor early that does it). I can't recall too well now.

In the end, in my fourth or fifth playthrough, I finally got it all. There's no quantitative value besidesthe artwork, but it's still pretty satisfying. I think someone around here has been making guides for max% of everything for each of the primes as well.
