Quote from Saber in Blue:
Did you know that if you go through an entire vs. match while taking and dealing no damage you will get the "Switzerland" bonus?  Very cute.

Far easier to get that bonus on the stage in adventure mode where you run along the f-zero track.
Cook of the Sea
Oh yeah...  I don't think I've ever done that without using a Saving move, though.  Just to be save.  And I'm really having trouble with that one event match, you know?  Any tips?
always move fast
IIRC, you should make it to the top of the hill when the first wave of cars pass, then you should be at the big gap when the second wave passes. You should finish before the third wave comes...i think.
I can kill any Samus with Marth, or Kirby, or Pikachu, or...Ah forget it, just see the list in my previous post on this topic.
Cook of the Sea
You mean any CPU Samus on any difficulty level?  Also, the best way to know how to attack any given character is to play as that character a bunch.
I have played as Samus, enough to know strengths and weaknesses, but I don't like to use her.

Also, I know this is COMPLETELY off topic, but I just noticed something that would be cool. Metroid Emoticons. That would be so cool. (Trails off and walks aimlessly into Ridley.)
If you think you can beat any Samus with Marth then you don't know anything about Samus's strengths or weaknesses.

I had thought he said "can't".  That's my ADD talking.  And you're absolutely right.  Any character can own any player using anybody if the one controlling it is sufficiently better than the other person.  And I still don't get why so many people write Samus off as an nworthy character right from the get-go.  I mean, B-Button-only newbs would be drawn to Samus's Charge Shot, and more experienced players would surely realize that Samus is well-balanced enough, even if she doesn't really suit their playing style.
I have a reason.. speed...  She isnt as fast as say... ...  ... well ok i havent played in a while...  But i know she isnt that fast... even her guard roll seems slower if i remember correctly...

I think I'm gonna play tonight
Cook of the Sea
Yeah, she's not a fast character...  Actaully, fast is my style, and I find that I can get Samus to where I need her to be just as fast as anybody else, just in different ways.  One cool thing about her is that she's the third heaviest character, but her fall speed is almost nil.  I mean, that can be a double-edged sword, but it can be useful.  And you've always got fast-fall when you need it...

In fact, I think her fall speed is the slowest.  CAL, you're probably the most qualified of any of us to answer that.
I have nothing against Samus in SSBM .. as many have said, skilled players can own with her, and this holds true for all characters ...

Personally though, I use Marth and Falco.  I'm also good with Gannondorf, despite his style being completely different than my other characters'
Cook of the Sea
Yeah, you're a speed guy too, I can tell.  Ganondorf is fun, isn't he?  I spent awhile trying to unlock that stage with the Home Run Contest with him.  Eventually did it with Pichu, though.
Ganondorf is slow, but his power is just...good...usually I just stand in one place, and wait for the victims to come to me. But that's on big stages like Hyrule Temple. Small ones are small enough so I can get to them, such as Yoshi's Island.
Cook of the Sea
I dunno, camping with Ganondorf is less of a bad move than with other characters, but it really only works with B-newbs or Level 1s.
I no very little of the numbers behind all the characters in Melee, apparently, I knew enough to beat the game with all of the unlockables a loooong time ago.  Never got all the trophies, No-Damage Clear is HARD, even on very easy... Samus is my main character, couldn't tell you why.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely

All Star. Very Easy. Donkey Kong. Down+B. Go nuts.
DOH!!!  I have no idea why I never tried it on all-star...  yeah, that'll work, thanks

Shouldn't that be 'Go Ape'? Would be much more appropriate...

Know what... I think I might sig that! Actually I WILL!

Despite my earlier posts referring to Samus after extensive use of her I have found that SHE KICKS ASS!!!!

Her Up + A Smash kinda sucks. I'd rather she punch the enemy into orbit. But her Down+A Smash is amazing!

And Missiles have saved my life more times than I can count! I've beaten Really hard events before just by standing back and rapid firing as many missiles as I can... Get the enemy to oh say 200% damage than finish em off!
Cook of the Sea
Missiles may be the best improvement of a character with a new move between SSB64 and SSBM.
Luigi kicks all your asses!  I use him the most.  I can take down 3 level 9 people when they're all on a team against me.

Oh yeh, keep shooting those fire balls. :P
400400
Roy all the way. It doesn't matter how powerfull your moves are if you can't hit him! I can beat 3 level 9's as well with roy
I'm sorry, you're both wrong. Yoshi is the greatest. He destroys all in his path!
Marth owns all.  He's like a fast, long-ranged, powerful Roy.  Some say Roy does more damage, but you can check.  Marth has more attacks that do more damage, when the attacks are compared one-to-one.
Recently I've found that I play best with Young Link. If I can't choose him, I'll go with Roy and miss all the the distance attacks, or Samus and miss the sword things...

Of course, Samus rocks. I'm just not that good with her.
Personally, I'm not very good at the game (still can't complete the last two events), but my best characters are the ones who have the great "other" games.

Samus
Link/Young
Zelda/Sheik
Luigi
Peach

What's with me and the female characters anyway?
