I found a neat little time-saving trick with the morphed shinespark in one of the rooms on the way out of Ridley's lair:
A few rooms to the right of the one you fight Ridley in, there is a long, bumpy room with a blocked off section in the corner full of enemies that can be broken into with the speed booster. Boost through this, and when you break the right-hand wall, press down to hold your charge. Quickly enter the next room, and jump onto the edge of the raised platform, and execute a morphed shinespark to the right. You'll shoot straight into the tunnel at the end of the room, saving a few valuable seconds and not having to deal with any enemies in the room.
