Hi, long-time lurker, just got around to getting registered. I've beaten every Metroid except Metroid 2, only because I keep going around in circles.

Anyway, how exactly is it that Ridley gets on the Space Labs in the first place? Last I checked, he blew apart into several large chunky pieces in Super Metroid. I know about the 'genetic revivification' (who the hell came up with THAT term?!) from various sites regarding it as canon (the games just said they were revived, did they not?) but that doesn't explain how he got frozen and ended up there.

So, anyone have an answer to this?
Thread title:
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
It's a game.

Best explanation.
Actually I still like my explanation:
Fusion doesn't exist.
It's a Metroid Twilight Zone!

Except I'm the only one who cares!

There's a large time gap between III and IV.  Samus, during that time, got into the Federation Armed Forces and had Adam as her CO at some point, plus the Federation had to have gotten that whole Metroid Breeding program underway.  So my guess is that Space Pirates got Ridley's carcass off of Zebes before it went 'splode, and then between III and IV Samus, either as a Bounty Hunter or a Soldier, somehow tracks it down and take it off of the Pirates' hands.  Probably as a Bounty Hunter, because then it would make sense that BSL probably hired her to deliver the carcass to them.  And then they freeze him.
yeah, i have to agree there's a big gap between three and four. the bsl strikes me as being the capitol of rising federation evil following the final defeat of the space pirates in super metroid. i'm sure they were going to start cloning ridley and using them as weapons, too.

edit: after all, think about how much time passed before alien 4.
It's just an ice sculpture. The X parasites could've gotten Ridley DNA elsewhere.

I always assumed Samus' Armed Forces adventures took place before she ever became a bounty hunter in the first place, i.e., before Metroid I. I believe I've heard others say this as well, and I dunno, it just seems to make more sense. But I do agree about the large time gap.

As for the breeding program, that could've been going on during Metroid II and Super for all we know. All they would've needed was metroid DNA, right? They could've gotten that at pretty much any time (from Ceres before it asploded, for instance).

I agree with this - though I doubt she was actually a member of the armed forces. She probably was a Chozo-Fed liaison of some sort. Perhaps a little young for such a diplomacy-heavy position, though... maybe she oversaw some of the knowledge exchange that probably took place given the Chozo's support of the Fed?

That's what I always figured. I mean, they seemed to have things pretty well under control by Fusion... and we all know how unpredictable and uncontrollable any scenario is when metroids are involved.

Yeah, it could go either way, in my view...  It makes more logical sense the way you say it, but Samus does seem very different in Fusion, apart from the new threads.  But since you:

...we can move on to some other shizz, to wit:

I'm pretty sure that it's established in Fusion a couple of times that all Metroid DNA data was gotten from the Metroid Hatchling that Samus brought in for questioning.  Is it?
Time bomb set get out fast!
It's strongly implied.  We know the Metroid vaccine they used to cure Samus was developed from a cell culture from the infant Metroid.  It's not actually stated that the Federation's breeding program is based on the same genetic material, but since that was Teh Last Metroyd Evar!, we can assume so.

I keep looking at this thread and picturing Ridley on LSD.
