OK guys, help me out here. Isn't is possible to kill off Ridley before Kraid? I think it is but I haven't figured it out yet. It seems to me that the only way to get deeper into Norfair is with the speed booster.

Correct, it is possible. When you collect the ice beam, you go around and end up at the very top of the green shaft, right? Instead of falling back through the crumble blocks, search for a missile block in the top-right corner. This leads to another shaft that will let you go deeper without the speed booster.
