Since well, I don't exactly want to go through as much trouble as it would be for me to do what I am about to ask, I would rather just ask someone who knows how to do it. Maybe Kriole, Spoofer or Cpadolf can give me an answer. Anyhow...

Is it possible to fight Mother Brain and then leave the restricted area and also not have the place explode after the timer is set? From what I am remembering, there isn't much place that you can go to xray climb, apart from the doors leading to the Chozo room. Even then, would it be useful? Has anyone tried to xray climb in the chozo room? If so or even if not, please let me know what happens if you do. If not, perhaps there is someway to get around the restricted area and possibly trick the timer into thinking it's not possible that it is active..

So let's say you manage to stop the timer, you could fight mother brain, stop the timer, fight Ridley and what not, then skip mother brain. Or hopefully, the place will still be in exploding sequence, as if you use the Space Time gun, and you can just leave after beating Kraid.

Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
I had a theory on that I never got around to testing. You *should* be able to x-ray scope out of a room, leave through an alternate door, get to a save station, and reset. That will kill the timer, but Zebes will still be in the exploding state (so you'll have to avoid the escape path until you're ready to leave Zebes), and you'd be free to do whatever you want in other places.
The tricky part would be getting to a save room in time. I haven't thought about it too much, but my first guess would be that you'd want to get up to Crateria Mainstreet, then head left back into Brinstar and save. I thought I had seen a way to x-ray scope out of there, but now that I'm thinking about it I'm coming up a little blank. There's sloped blocks above the regenerating bomb blocks so you can't go that way. You might have to go all the way up to Samus's ship and get stuck in the door there, x-ray scope up out of the screen. Then just jump up a screen and hit the door on the left.
Aaand a quick test shows the area left of Samus's ship is full of stuff. Hmm. I'll have to poke at that, I'll edit this post in a bit.

Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
actually I'll just make a new post.
It turns out there's a single block of space to do what I originally thought of doing. So you'd have to jump left (make sure you hit the edge of the screen HIGH, too low and you'll hit some blocks you don't want to hit), wall jump up, morph, and hold left. After you land, demorph. It's kinda hard to do when you can't see what you're doing, but you can check with the pause screen to see if you made it: The map should show you inside the first screen of Crateria Gauntlet. Jump right and you should enter a door, this will take to to the leftmost screen of Crateria Gauntlet. You need to jump/bomb/anything you can do to make your way left. Fire diagonal left too, you should eventually open a door and enter it, from there things will return to normalcy and you have to race to a save station.
Let me see if there's a way to backtrack through Crateria Mainstreet, that could save some time..
Well, I have no idea how to use TAS and I also have to much trouble getting stuck far enough in a door without TAS to actually xray climb with. So if you could, perhaps you can give me a few savestates with the timer active and perhaps I can test this alongside you.

I just figured that basically, the Reverse Run wasn't truly a Reverse Run if you don't fight Mother Brain first and foremost. It might even be possible that this would be faster than the previous Reverse Run.

Wow, here's a better path:
Go left and jump a bit so you can tell exactly where you are, then walk left off the screen and immediately turn back around and hold right. You have chance of going left to Crateria Mainstreet, and a chance of going right towards the Wrecked Ship. If you do end up going right, you can then easily head down to Red Brinstar and save right there.
Bet you're glad I mentioned this huh? Haha! Sadly, I had forgotten about you so I didn't mention your name. Also, yeah technically if you want to do this without codes, you would have to jump around blind. But with your code, the one that follows Samus, you don't have to do that.
What'd you say?
So is this possible within the escape timer's limit?
It sounds like it is. I forget exactly what the timer is, but I believe by the time you get through with the glitch, you would have approx 1 minute left to go from the right side of outer crateria, down and through the breakable block shaft, down the elevator and into the save room. It should be, but it might not.

Going the former route, you would have to run down the long corridor, go past the space pirates, go to the next room, then down an elevator, then to a save room. I don't believe going that way would be an option.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
You'd also have to remember to open the yellow hatch to the right of the ship (leading to Red Brinstar) before entering Tourian, as Mother Brain would drain all of your ammo, so you'd have none left.  It's possible to get them on the way if the enemies are there, but not as easy as just opening it beforehand, especially on a timer.
I can confirm that reloading the game after saving will kill the
timer, but you also lose your Hyper Beam. I've entered Crateria
Mainstreet Save room using cheats to modify Samus's X position and
warp through closed door
Losing the Hyper Beam was never a question in my mind. Sure it would be useful, but definitely nothing needed.
Anyone trying this out to see if it's useful?
