I just got 2:08:XX 100% and made a shitload of mistakes, including having to leave the 1st save station in the nest and return all the way to industrial complex to grab a forgotten item,  so I should have sub 2 hour 100% very soon.

nice!
what difficulty you workin?
Normal.  I'm still making a ton of mistakes.  I should be able to take a good chunk off of that as I get better.  That was only my 5th playthrough.

I wish I could watch those videos again.  I haven't been able to watch them since the first day I found them on speedrun.com.  The audio/video is completely out of sync, both stutter, and often they won't even play at all.  I've tried multiple browsers, cleared cookies (dont know why), and even tried two different PC's and the problems are the same. Whatever the issue is it's not on my end. Bummer.
same here.

theres some pretty good vids on youtube by Tornado9797
Hey what do you know about the 1.1 patch?
One of the changes is: - Fixed room transition in area 3 entrance

I wonder if you can't get early power bombs any more :(
hope so

for posterity -

"AM2R Update 1.1

New in this version:
- Fixed gravity suit not being rendered in certain systems
- Fixed room transition in area 3 entrance
- Fixed language file detection, the game can be fully translated now
- Added transport pipe to final area
- Balanced Omega fights a bit
- Other minor fixes

Existing save files should be detected automatically.
You'll find the latest version at the forums.
Have fun!"

no more early power bombs will easily throw 10 minutes onto my time  :(

have to rethink my route now

also - am I blind?  I can't seem to find the transport pipe to the final area.  I used all the old ones during item cleanup and I just assumed that it would be near one of those.

It must be in the same room as the other transport pipe.  I entered that room from the right and immediately entered the first pipe without looking at the other side of the room.

EDIT: I see it now.
What and odd transport they added.  What is it for?  You can't bypass the nest, so why add this?  I don't get it.

For better access to older areas after reaching the lab. There's no clear indicator of when you're about to go to finish the game. There's also no "point of no return", but if you wanted to go for 100% item collection after reaching the lab, up until this patch there was no other option than backtracking for 10 minutes.
heres a really good segmented run:

This is great thanks
Sub 2 hour 100% acheived

I noticed something when watching runs that I don't understand.  Why are the missile, super missile, and power bomb icons sometimes yellow?  At first I thought it must be a feature like the blinking icon from Super, but no.  Anyone?

It's doing a mockball while charged.  I didn't know you could do that in this game.  You can in Super.

Looks easier than the way I shinesparked up to that elevator, laid a pb, and then shot straight up that shaft.  It was the hardest shinespark in the game.
recharge shine in super??

Yes, if you shinespark into a slope while pressing forward - but you can do that in zm, fusion, etc.  But what I was talking about specifically was the mockball he did when he landed after he was jumping with a charge.  It used to be called a speedball in super before they let you do a springball shinespark in ZM and Fusion and the word 'speedball' eventually got changed to mean that. It allows you to keep your momentum when done correctly, and that momentum was what he used to recharge his shinespark.  You cannot recharge your shinespark in morph ball form in Super.

So that would make this game the first metroid game where you could do both.
