If I were staff I wouldn't think handing over the site to someone completely unknown would be a good idea.

Beyond that, the reason the site has suffered is because everyone stopped caring. Most of the discoveries in Prime have been found, a lot of the oldbies moved on and no new people are coming in because the new games suck. The Prime speedrunning scene is pretty dead overall, there's no one seriously running it anymore except Miles.

Maybe if Nintendo releases a new, good game things will pick up again.

Although, one thing I will mention, is it would be nice to have Metroid: Other M on the main page. I'm not sure how much there is as far as speedrunning that game, but it'd still be nice to have.

seems like someone who's hung around here for a while would know the name of the owner of the site. anyway, i don't see what a site redesign would offer that the forum doesn't currently offer, and i don't think many people would really care.

It is just an idea, and i do not really want ownership as much as i do privileges to work on the site. Yes we all the tricks in prime have been discovered but, does it really have to focus on prime like it did? I just want to get this site back on its feet again, I see your comments as valid so I guess i have to just wait.

Not just Prime, no. Most stuff has been discovered for all of the games, and nothing decent has been released in ages. I am fairly certain that if a great Metroid game dropped next month, then the forum would again become active.

Refurbish isn't necessary I think. In my opinion it's sadder that the site isn't up to date anymore. There are a lot of speedtricks, secret worlds or glitches that are not referenced. If you start in MP 1 or 2 (I only know those 2), you have to search a lot by yourself to konw everything, and in fact you won't find everything. It would be so great to have all the discoveries gathered in one place. One the other hand I understand that maintaining this kind of site is a big task and takes a lot of time so I won't blame anyone. Thanks to all who contributed to the site by the way extra_smug

i kind of doubt that anyone would take the time to update the site even if i wrote an editor for it or something. for a while there was a project to duplicate the site on the sda strategy wiki, but that totally died out years ago. unless a bunch of people come forward saying "i promise to do (all these updates)," the only reason i would write an editor at this point would be to see if i can't write better wiki software. well, i probably can, but i have a lot of other things that demand my attention (like ninja gaiden for xbox), and it doesn't interest me that much.

Maintaining it alone would be hell. Perhaps you could find a way to give a few, trusted, people privileges to edit and update the main site?

See thats what i want to do, edit it, though to everyone i probly would not be one of those trusted so i guess, just choose if you decided to.

I've been around since 2008 and I wouldn't even consider myself trustworthy enough and nowhere near knowledgeable enough to be entrusted with editing it.

not sure if there anything that needs to be done ... afaik if people record videos of tricks and write descriptions nate will update the site with them. that's how it's always been done, it's just that no one's submitted anything recently.
