Rapid Firing

It seems that the faster I press the B button, the slower my beam and missiles come out. I tapped B twice in succession and one beam came out. I tapped B twice in succession and one missile came out. I think I have to pause for some amount of time in between shots, but less of a pause for beams. If I press it normally then they come out one after the other fine. But the faster I press it they less they come out. The beam just shoots in spurts. Missiles shoot slow no matter what, just slower if I press it faster. What's the timing for beam and missile shots?

It's hard to actually give a good description with text... so I won't try. You do have the right idea though, there is a tiny break between every shot with the power beam, you'll eventually find the right balance if you just always work on it wherever you go (or just practice the hives a bit). As for missiles, you're right again, there's a break there too, and I'm also pretty sure you can only have a certain amount onscreen at a time (like with the beams, three onscreen is the limit I believe). Probably two at a time... not certain though. But as for the break there's like a .2 second break between each shot, so while they can be shot pretty fast, there is a break. Again, just work on it I guess... practice Ridley or watch some runs, there's probably some places that show some uber-fast missile firing. And for Supers there's about a .5 second break between shots.
