I'd double check that everything resaved correctly I guess, should be working if you changed the right byte to the right value. Worst case, it only takes like five minutes to play through the Frigate anyway...

success!

now i just need to get it to work on console. <_<

so how do you determine where everything is?
got mine running on console too, probably gonna write a bat file to automate the process for me and i'll share them with you guys just because sharing is caring =)

one thing i dont understand though: why can you keep the Metroid2 etc. folders for a future randomization? aren't the files in there moved around so it will be like randomizing the random if you run it again? won't that cause inconsistencies if 2 people would race with the same seed for example?

also im gonna try to figure out a way to get this running smoothly on mac (i really dislike using vm's and bootcamp for this kind of stuff). i feel like WINE should be able to run the stuff.

Check the randomizer's logs folder. It'll generate a log there every time you run it. Obviously you prolly won't wanna look at that until you're finished playing that randomization :P

It doesn't cause problems because the randomizer accounts for that and makes sure everything is in the right place. If you do happen to run into any inconsistencies caused by doing that, let us know, because that's a bug. As far as we know there aren't any, though.

ok gotcha. nice
edit: just realized this batch file would be completely useless so scratch what i said earlier.

It randomizes based on the original list of pickups, not the new randomized pickups. Randomizing files that are already randomized should have no effect on the final optimized pak (and in fact is what I usually do myself).

T3: You don't have to start from a completely new memory card save. Just make sure you're starting a new game instead of loading a 0:00 Frigate.

i think i got a working bash-script running now, aiding mac and linux users to use Wine to run the randomizer.
i haven't tried linux, but it did work for me on my mac running 10.9.3. i do not have another mac to test on.

you will need wine installed, for osx i used this: http://winebottler.kronenberg.org (download the stable version, open it, and drag the Wine and Winebottler into Applications folder)
throughout the execution there will be a ton of errors from wine, just ignore them

to use:
1) unzip to a convenient place, like Desktop
2) open up Terminal and do 'cd ~/Desktop/PrimeRandomizer_wine' (or wherever you placed it), and then do './script.sh'
3) press 1 to open GCRebuilder. image > open > select your 0-00 iso. right click root on the right and extract it to same folder as script
4) exit GCRebuilder, script will run again
5) hit 2 to extract PAKs
6) hit 3 to randomize and repack
7) hit 1 again to run GCRebuilder, root > open (pick the root folder)
you need the fixed &&systemfolder that Paraxade posted earlier, otherwise GCRebuilder will crash upon opening the root folder
8) root > save > pick a location, root > rebuild
9) done

since this is a shell script, anyone can open it and modify and make improvements.

http://lambdan.se/d/PrimeRandomizer_wine.zip

Updated with a great readme, and Ubuntu (and probably other Linux'es) compatibility.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
the randomizer works on the trilogy version partially. i used the patched pak files and replaced them on the mp1 wii iso and it worked for a considerable part but the artifact temple causes a hard reset every time i try to go there. not sure if it's the item that's there or just the whole thing breaking itself because it's not 0-00 but at least it seems like getting it to work well shouldn't be too much extra work (unless the cause of the hard reset is something too big not worth fixing)

i'll try the randomizer on GC later.

Alright so I'm confused. I have Nindendon't working just fine it seems... it loads everything and waits a while at main.dol and then goes to black and my Wii hard crashes :/ any ideas?

My TV also changes to 740x380 @60i which... is not correct haha
I use Dios Mios personally... it works fairly well IMO. It does prevent you from running Gamecube games through the Disc Channel, but you can reinstall the original mIOS to get that functionality back, so it's not really a huge deal to me.
I hate to be an asspain but would you mind helping me with that? I've already installed buttloads of stuff but never managed to get gamecube games to work
I'm streaming at the moment but I guess I can try. IIRC I just installed the custom IOS and then Dios Mios - you need Dios Mios for running games off USB, Dios Mios Lite for running games off the SD card. After that I just use USB Loader GX and it works fine (need to fiddle with the settings to get it to read gamecube games from the correct location).
Hrm, okay. I've installed a bunch of IOS's to it over the years... is re-installing them bad? >.> and what custom IOS do I need, do you know?
You can use 222/249/250 iirc, then install the Dios Mios through a WAD Manager, after that you can use a loader (I use the Dios Mios Booter) for playing the game
i also had a lot of trouble getting usb loading to work, and i did a ton off different stuff so idk what did the trick, but here's what i know:
i have DIOSMIOS 2.8 installed. i use USB Loader GX to launch the game. the game is on a 16gb fat32 32k cluster formatted usb stick (in the usb0 slot), in this path: usb://games/GM8E01/game.iso.
Hrm, okay. Installed DIOSMIOS 2.8 and tried using Dios Mios Booter, but it threw an error upon loading Metroid Prime - Fatal error applauder size is zero. Any ideas?
Well that sounds like the apploader size is zero. :P Use the updated &&systemdata files I posted on the last page.

Did you replace the systemdata files with Parax's files?
Edit: @parax Well you were faster than me

That is the thing though... I'm just using a straight .iso downloaded from a nice place.

I actually used a separate USB loader and it got the game to boot, but it hung after 'Retro Studios'. :/

The USB loader literally being titled USBLoader
Have you tried USB Loader GX? That's the only one I have any experience with so I don't really know what might be wrong with these other ones.
Sadly, it doesn't even show up in USB Loader GX. The drive does, and it reads an accurate amount of free space, but the game isn't choosable
Ok, so there's actually a few things that can be causing that. Name the iso "game.iso" and put it in the folder USB:\games\GM8E01. Then go into the settings in the USB Loader and set the gamecube games path to read from USB:\games. If it still doesn't show up then then check the icons at the top of the main screen and make sure gamecube games are set to be visible. Should fix your problems and get it to show up.
I couldnt make it work with the GX neither, but yes with the DM Booter =/. Are you sure the USB that you are using is compatible for loading GC games on Wii?

Where exactly in settings is it? I kinda figured it'd be in custom paths but it doesn't seem to be? And it's a Kingston DataTraveler 4GB

EDIT: Also, I'm trying to load Metroid Prime without the original disc, because my drive is broken... Is that the issue?
