Quote from Paraxade:
I'm not sure specifically what's different in the game's files in other versions of the game. I know some rooms have extra objects (like door locks or piles of Bendezium rubble) and I'm not sure exactly how the randomizer reads/writes to those files. Seems entirely possible to me there could be differences that screw it up.

Uchiha posted earlier that he got it to work in Trilogy by dumping randomized 0-00 paks into Trilogy, but that doesn't mean it'll correctly randomize the files Trilogy actually uses normally. But then again it could work perfectly. It's untested.

on the little i got to play on the edited trilogy iso, the randomizer had actually worked fine since i loaded the same randomized packs in a 0-00 iso and the items matched up.
the big issue so far is the hard crash in artifact temple. hopefully reka can figure out why that happens.
That shouldn't even be happening, because Truth isn't changed >.>

you never know. something might be conflicting with trilogy-specific additions.
Well yeah I assume so. I just think it's weird the one place that we don't fuck with breaks
It doesn't matter if Truth is changed or not, you're copying Prime 1 files into Trilogy. Sure it might work, but you're basically removing all the Trilogy changes by doing that, so if it relies on some extra object in Artifact Temple that wasn't in the original, it's gonna crash.

I was talking about randomizing the Trilogy paks, not copying Prime 1 paks into Trilogy.

Anywhere, everywhere
I would assume that your "dumping 0-00 paks" into Trilogy is unplayable because it's almost an inevitability that some of the data in those files is read differently. It's pretty surprising that it runs period. I'm just a little curious if the randomizer works on the Trilogy paks themselves.

edit: as stated above!

And we're certain that the GM8J Japanese release works?
I have the GM8J version but no way to use the randomizer software, sadly.
Anywhere, everywhere
It should be exactly the same as the NA version, but the ISO.hdr file that Paraxade attached needs to be edited with a hex editor to read GM8J when rebuilding the ISO.

Later tonight, I'll take a look when I'm available.
Nah I mean like, I don't have a windows computer to use the software on. I would assume it works just fine though. I have the PAL version too if people want
Anywhere, everywhere
Oh, haha. I've only got ISO's of the games I own, so just NA 0-00 Prime and Trilogy. I suppose if Trilogy works, they all would, but I dunno.

oh btw, i was using the japanese mp1 for wii. do the paks contain language stuff?

the only thing they would've needed to change for localization AFAIK are STRG files, which the randomizer doesn't touch. aside from creating a custom one for the Phazon Suit scan.
Shoemaker where are yooooooooououououou
The randomizer might "work" on other versions of the game, but I can't guarantee that the changed files will actually work in-game. So if the program does work, don't get your hopes up yet.

Also trying to turn Trilogy into 0-00 does not count as "working on Trilogy". >_>

I'd like to try this.  I have an old wii that has a broken disc drive, and I'd like to use it for things like this.  I'm a little overwhelmed by all the different sets of instructions online.  Can anyone point me to the best one?  (or can I even use the wii for this? I just don't want to play it on my PC)

Ok Opium, you're literally me like 12 hours ago. How far along are you in Wii softmodding?

I;m at square 1.  I haven't done anything yet.

Alright Opium, first...

Holy Crap.  Thanks.

Yeah, it's a fucking PROCESS. I literally had to take 9 hours of my day to figure out how the fuck to get it to work. Let me know if its not working
tried using nintendont but the loads are pretty bad, the game stutters randomly, and also occasionally crashes. what sort of things should i be doing to get better loads? is dios mios any better?

I find Dios Mios better than Nintendont, at least for me.

i used an HDD formatted to FAT32 with 64k clusters to get it to work with nintendont. i get stutters but that's it. game didn't crash so far.

also, i've got my first randomizer dud

Damn that's actually a REALLY nice randomization minus the Wave beam

EDIT: And yeah, Dios Mios Lite launching off an SD card seems to be the way to go to be honest
That looks doable, actually. After you get Ice Beam you can easily grab Space Jump out of Overgrown Cavern, then you can do the Frigate backwards to pick up Wave Beam.
Oh shit I think you're right, if you go backwards all the Wave stuff doesn't even matter.

oohh. looks like my bad skills are getting the best out of me. i couldn't even do the underwater ghetto to get ice beam.
Gravity suit + Double Bomb Jump

Aruki: 2014-06-23 07:47:20 pm
Gravity's not accessible without Wave in that randomization. You can just ghetto up to it though, like Uchiha said. It's a pretty annoying ghetto but I don't usually find it to be too bad.

You'd also have to use floaty jump to pick up Boost Ball in Crossway.
