I should've known it was too good to be true. I restored the paks first because i wasn't sure if i'd quit my last search abruptly. Then i set it to find a "normal no exclusions" seed. It found one first try. Problem is it's not completable as far as I can tell.

EDIT: tried again, letting it run while making pointless attempts at getting morph ball from OOB. Took a little while but it apparently found one. This time it didn't make a log file but at least it seems completable so far

The issue was that I was looking for a log with the time and date in the filename instead of log.txt which is what it was called. I did have another in the folder though.

EDIT 2:Ok, something isn't right here. Yet another impossible seed. I'm gonna redump the iso just to make sure it isn't mangled PAKS. And if it is, shouldn't using the restore option of the generator fix it? i made backups when i first got the generator and never had any problems until recently. i tried the restore option and it still messed up. Or maybe i'm just really unlucky?

It's been a while since I updated this here, so listing all changes since 0.6

-Added Hypermode
-Added Ability to manually check a log file
-Will now reject most bad strings entered into the exceptions field
-Added a way to generate seeds of a single difficulty.  Previously, if you searched for a seed, it would return a seed of any difficulty that is equal to or below the user's preference.  Now, if you type $#, you will get a seed of only the user's preference and nothing lower.
-The log files of seeds that are generated will now be moved away to a folder called CompletableSeeds in the same folder as the Seed Generator.  They will be renamed to <Difficulty> difficulty with seed <seed>.txt
-Option to run indefinatly and output completed seeds to a list in a text file located in CompletableSeeds folder.

I don't know if this has been posted about here before, or if it was even a randomizer error and not just some weird glitch. I was playing a randomizer last night and the "spider ball augmentation required" text showed up for seemingly no reason while I was in gathering hall and never went away.

That's....weird. Dunno how the randomizer would glitch like that. Then again, I don't know how the original game would either. Were you coming back from watery hall? Or whatever room that is back there past the 2 missile doors?

What do you mean about "try to type 59"? You should type 59 before you run the program (eg open CMD and type "Prime_Randomizer.exe -e 59").

And actually, the randomizer needs to take the folder with the paks in it as the first argument, so it should be "Prime_Randomizer [folder] -e 59". Check the readme if you haven't already, it explains all this stuff and more.

I did look at the read me actually, after I open the randomizer, i try to type (e.g. Prime_Randomizer [MP] -e 59 and press Enter it automatically closes. Pretty much if I try to type one word or letter it closes on me

Don't actually put the folder in brackets. We just use that in the instructions to say "fill in this parameter with the folder name".

when you run it by clicking on it, it tries to run the program without any arguments, which is why it outputs the message about usage.

edit: didn't see the rest of the video. you weren't typing it in correctly. you have to type something like this:

Note that almost all of the work on this was done back in June; there may be things that need changing that I forgot about, and there hasn't been much testing. Think of this as a beta release. Please feel free to be a beta tester for me. I had sort of lost motivation as there was an issue with ConditionalRelays in Echoes that I wanted to fix, and my original solution required redoing the way a bunch of things were set up. Realized an easier way to do it a few days ago so here we are.

A few notes:
1. This supports both Prime and Echoes
2. Don't use paks from previous Randomizers
3. Read the Readme please

- Violet Translator is excluded by default, to make navigating Temple Grounds at the start of the game a lot easier.
- The Energy Transfer Module is now moved correctly (was previously invisible and potentially game-crashing), and is no longer excluded by default.
- Random Warp option added, to match with Prime. (-w)
- Fixed a crash when obtaining Grapple outside of Torvus on PAL.
- The Light Suit and Translators will reset any ConditionalRelays used in the room or adjacent rooms, so you can't get stuck under Dark Water or behind a Translator Gate after obtaining them.
- The cutscenes before the pickups in Dark Torvus Temple and Main Gyro Chamber now show the correct randomized pickup.
- Removed "Randomize Music" and "Enable Pickup Cutscenes" options as they were pretty useless.

Nice. Seems to be a bit faster, around 30 seconds. I'm really enjoying the HUD Memo Popup Removal. ILS is a nice option too.

Found something weird though. I wanted to set up a preset in notepad because I don't
want to have to type the whole thing every time. Weird thing is that it would
randomly not work, resulting in:



No files were changed or moved around between the first and second attempt.
Only diffrence is that in the first one I pasted the "-" in "-g" (right-click paste, not control v) but typed everything else.
The seconds one I typed all of it. I was hoping to narrow down which part was causeing the error.
Seems to be pasting that causes the issue, but i don't understand why it only happens
sometimes considreing no files changed or moved.

And it gets weirder.

At one point while I was experimenting the Randomizer.exe... how to word this... deflated? Imploded?
It popped up a message box saying Invalid Application or something like that. Checked the exe thinking
it may have somehow moved or been deleted but it was there. Sorta.
It showed 0kb instead of the normal 950kb.

That only happened once and may have been cause by many consecutive attemps.
This was what the command prompt showed:

Access is denied.

I restored my backups before all of this to avoid mangled paks. I even redumped the iso at one point. Still happens sometimes.

I've never had it happen if everything was typed out so I just made a simple macro for it.
That way I won't have to worry about it. Figured I'd be a nice beta tester and report my findings.

I'd recommend making a bat file instead. That allows you to just double click on the file to run your randomizer preset. Hard to say just from that info why your copy paste isn't working, but I would guess you're accidentally including some extra invisible characters that are preventing the randomizer from parsing the arguments correctly.
