Wassup Dawgs> sorry, your story is quite different than mines. I started speed runnng/making movies for this game for about a year ago (around summer) when there wasn't cheated-re-recorded runs like these. The only thing that inspired me to speed run it were the ZMV's videos of the guys at classicgaming.com. None of them were cheated in any way and I never gave a thought to that, no matter how slower I was at the time (1:31w/100%).

If I knew those runs were cheated I'd do the same thing you did. It would be as a point of reference to know how close I can get to perfection and will never bother me in the slightest, since I already know I can't reach it but would be good to see how close I can get to them.

I was actually 'excited' when bulleta got 1:00.. inspiring me again to continue doing 100% runs knowing that I can go a bit faster than what she did because it was done legimately. Well, it happens that I can take 6 mins away of what I did a year ago. Making a run where there aren't 'perfect-cheated' runs around make someone real proud, when you actually don't know what's the limit to it. I don't know for you, but for me knowing a limit is kinda pointless or not 'awe-inspiring' BEFORE you try one of your own. I don't think I'm 'teh #1' in this game. I've known lots of people who have broken my times and some that are actually still playing this game have gotten really close to my times, and, of course, without mentioning bulleta.

I knew the fact that there will be people trying to break what I can do, but never expected to happen so soon. I'm not that pissed because of the fact that they can done better than I, I'm more pissed right now because it happened so soon.

I actually knew the limit to my run a few days ago, and I am really happy know it now. As I said before, if someone discover something that can actually break the limit, I certainly know I can do it, but I guess I'll have to live with the undeniable fact that they will take it again to it's limits.
Perhaps it's over for Nate and Red Scarlet, but it's not over for everyone. Emulated runs aren't new, a real console run without save states will always be more impressive, just like single segment runs are mroe impressive than regular ones.

Nate didn't come off that way here... sorta... *shrug*

this has been a very difficult night, and i apologize ahead of time for any rampaging emotions you may encounter. ... this video pretty much put all of our hopes to sleep, and i mean with a punch to the face ... emotionally it's going to be difficult for a while... i am now faced with the prospect of trying to scream out at a deaf audience that some of this machine's pixel-perfect moves are in fact impossible on a console...

It sure sounded to me like he took it badly. Granted, he didn't say it was "all over for this game", as RS did, but his tone made it sound like he felt the same way.

Yeah, but it certianly sounded like he was going to recover. His language emphazises a transitory nature to the problem.

No offence Goofyman, but the facts you usually "lay out" are: obious facts known to everyone, you repeating someone else's sayings or just gunship.

Yes, most of my facts are previously known, but some people don't listen. Most emulation videos are not considered legit because they aren't. Some people want to try and make them seem legit. Those people are wrong.

Remember the SMB3 in 11 minutes video? How everyone was shocked and appaled when it was revealed that is used emulation?

Well, it was actually right on his website, ready to read (If you knew the language, but using Babelfish, the text held alright)

Really, it's not his fault; he thought people would read it, but they just took the video. Anyways.

Now, a 47:04 100% of Super Metroid is here, and everyone is freaking out and appaled and such. Well, as Bulleta said, it has obvious signs of emulation.

People constantly get on these people, but it's not their fault that a few people who use re-recording emulators make videos. And it was revealed that the person who made the video didn't say it was real; the person who got it from him did.

I don't see many people bashing the legit runners, but the emulation runners are constantly assaulted. The two categories are completely different, and no amount of lying on the emulation part that the videos are real will ever merge them.

Hello!
Well, if someone asks me for my opinion (and yes, you don't know myself but I'm very direct) Bulleta has a real reason for being upset, because the whole world is filled with n00bs and even your friendly help can change this.
But I don't understand you Bulleta, why do you think a fake run is better than your's? Don't compare your run and the fake guy's run, because the comparisation isn't valid. (Arrgh, my english's bad) I mean, if you compare your run with the fake run, you set your run in the same league as the fake run is in (In fact your's isn't).
Probably you wasn't satisfied with your run after you released it, was you?
And I think you're upset now because you knew sometime some "better" (this run isn't better, it's more worse) run would appear and set you to the 2nd place.
But don't think so!!  :)
You did a very good job and you didn't made this for us, you made this for you and not for us (I hope... ^^' ).
And just ignore the fake run, I don't think many sites will upload it, because it's a emulated run and not a SNES Console run, and you and every other SNES player, that saw you run got our respect (well, I hope the others do, but you got my respect highprofessionalsupermetroidplayer)

And please don't give me comments like you did to goofy please, this is my first thread and I also just want Bulleta to be proud of her run and ignore this other.
we excuse your english :). You might want to go introduce yourself at the 'Boardwalk' forum.

yes, I suppose it's all about the 'nOObs' in the way they're going to get this. I guess it's all in our heads that people won't want to watch our runs because there are better than ours (which in fact one has a low file size and that's a huge advantage) as some guy said at the GF's boards. I'd like to see them doing a run without tool-assistance. Still, some would prefer watching those primarily because of the file size (since it happens that not all the people have good internet connection, anyway).

so did nate get :35 or something? cool.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Nah, I made it for everyone and myself..it was the best I could do.  But this emu vid shows just how shitty my best is, to me.

Your best is better than anyone else's best on the console. You're better than any real console player out there. No one's perfect, but you're closer to perfection than any other SM player out there, as far as 100% runs go, anyway. Be proud about it and don't get moody over this silly emulated run.

(shinespark all the way through the sandy Mochtroid room; I was told that you would normally stop midway, and that's what happened to me when I tried),

Did you even watch the movie? It's extremely obvious how it's done. You were probably too low.

I wonder if he even tried. I have. On the emulator. Save stated. And afaik, pixel perfect. And I stopped in mid-air. But meh. The thread on gamefaqs isn't as bad as I thought it would've been. Although it's far from interesting :P

On a sidenote, there's a 0:51 100% run noted on Twingalaxies :? wonder how they verify their runs...
AssA> I'm fairly certain that's an any% run.

well, off to school. check later
If it's an any% run the entire Super Metroid scoreboard would mean nothing because even my dog can complete it faster than that. And I don't even have one Shocked

(Then again, I heard TwinGalaxies isn't into mockballing so I suppose my imaginal dog would actually have to put a little effort into it...)

But I suppose it is, in all my sleepyness I mistook the %score for %items collected, sorry Embarassed
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Yeah, I think overall I tried that spark for about 4 hours altogether.  Never got it to go like that.

Same with that instant fall through the sand (but only about 1.5 hours).
It is kind of dissapointing that some people will think that this run is any better than(or just as good as)your run. It's on an emulator, it doesn't "count" IMO. If People think it's better, than why should you care what they think at all? I don't think an emulated run takes very much skill, and thats what counts. If someone got 54 100% on a console, than I would rather watch that run instead of your 55 run. But nobody has, and I think it will be a long time before somone will. I think super metroid runs are the funnest ones to watch, and I think your 100% runs are the best. I don't plan on downloading the run, because I don't really care about it because it's emulated. If someone went and got 45 any% on fusion on an emulator, then so what? Some people might like that run better than mine or WD's, but he/we will still be the best.(unless someone gets a time like that on the real GBA). I think most, if not all of the people here on this site, like your runs WAY better than any emulated run.

i agree; it sounded to me (when i first read his post) like he was going to sleep on it and see how he felt later.
I guess you'd know best, huh? Giving the fact that you know him kinda well?

Is it just me, or is that in the third person?
I think Nate has issues...........

It's all those "ravaging emotions"...  They're sending him crazy.

I wonder which one of him went to Wust...
Watching Emulator runs that use emu-features to perfect their run is like looking at a beautiful person who has been under the scalpel to alter his or her original, not so beautiful form, while watching console runs is like seeing the glow that is un-artificial beauty shine in a person. You might like the former at first, but after awhile, especially after you know the truth, it gets old like so many grannies that get face lifts and old geezers that get implants!

I'm sure that everyone here truely respects and appreciates all the speed runners, and every one of those runners has my <3, because theirs is the natural beauty! AND THAT BEAUTY BURNS SO BRIGHT IT HURTS MY EYES LIKE LOOKING AT THE SUN, BABY, AND IT HURTS! SO! GOOD!

<3 <3!

Yoshi scared.
Emulated runs suck. Real runs rule. There's one exception to this: Sesshoumaru. I WANT MORE SESS.

Seriously though, Swordsman in Sable made a great analogy. I remember when that Super Mario 3 run was awesome. As soon as I learned it was cheated, I wiped it clean from my computer. But RS, she stays forever ;)
It's really quite sad nowadays that people think that there can't be a legit emulated run.  It's very much possible.

SESS! SESS! SESS! SESS! SESS! SESS! SESS! SESS! SESS! SESS!

But realistically, when people can cheat and there's no consequence, they'll more than likely do so. And because those bastards cheat, the rest of the people refuse to trust in any such runs. Ah, the great circle of crap.
