Ah it is finally done... the sequel to my Boost Guardian With No Dark Suit, No Energy Tanks video.

For people like me, who know nothing about Wallcrawling mechanics, the only way to do a No Dark Suit No Energy Tanks challenge run is to take on Quadraxis like a real man.
Many of you are now used to Out of Bounds stuff, beware, this may contain too much actual... action for you. We actually fight this guy instead of walking around his room.

I achieved this first in February 2014, but could not record 60 HZ videos back then. Unfortunately, for some reason, they made the PAL version of this game only playable on 60 HZ.
I thought i would never get it on video again, but here it finally is. Obviously, i use more than just 50 Light Ammo. Even with Light Beam only, this is ridiculous, so fucking hard
you can't imagine it.

The first form is tough when you are unlucky and when Quadraxis times his charged Annihilator Beam attack badly. The second form is by far the easiest and i almost always
clear that form if i reach it. Notice here, that i actually play really sloppily on the second form in the video, yet i survive. I dodged the Dark Quad well on the second antenna,
like i usually do, but while trying to destroy the third antenna i got hit all over the place, yet made it easily, it usually goes right if you get enough energy refills.

By far the hardest and most frustrating part is the last form. Since sometimes i die really often at the first form and don't even make it to the final form, you can imagine
how frustrating this is.

Obviously the hard thing about the final form is that all my Light Beam ammo doesn't help. I have no energy tanks, and that is a huge problem. After stunning Quadraxis,
you watch where he moves. Then you prepare and roll onto the spider ball track the he is moving towards. Then you wait until he is at the right spot and boost onto him.

Problem: The waiting part. While you are on top of the spider ball track and wait for Quadraxis to come, you can't do SHIT. Energy is being drained too fast. This required a cool strategy.
I watch where Quadraxis is moving, and position myself next to a Golden Energy Refill. I want to time it so that i roll onto the spider ball track, and once i am on top, i want
to IMMEDIATELY be able to boost onto him, without waiting, or at least, without waiting much, like it happened in this video.

This is by far the luckiest final form that i ever got. So lucky that the video makes this look way easier than it actually is. It is usually way more complex, because
usually Quadraxis is much further away, requiring VERY precise timing when to collect the Energy Refill. Go to soon and you will wait too long, losing more, possibly too much energy.
Go to late and you will not be able to boost onto Quadraxis: You will reach the top of the spider ball track, but cannot boost onto Quadraxis anymore. This means instant death.
So better go too soon than too late.

Here, insane luck and precise timing is needed. Sometimes i was lucky enough, but timed it wrong. Other times i was just unlucky with the Energy Refills.

The absolute worst thing however, is surviving after actually killing Quadraxis. Many times i defeated Quadraxis, but the energy spawned way too far from where Samus stands
after the cutscene, which means death.

When i first successfully did it in February 2014, i had about 40 energy left when defeating Quadraxis and the energy spawned directly next to Annihilator Beam.
On failed attempts, i usually had 20 energy units left after killing Quadraxis, and energy was nowhere close to the Annihilator Beam.
In this attempt, i again had about 40 energy units left, but the energy still dropped a bit far away. From experience, i immediately just boosted to the Energy, i knew it was
too far away to just walk there with Charge Beam. And well, that's how it went. My breathing was very heavy after finally getting this on video, i haven't been so excited
after a gaming achievement for like 5 years or something.

I dare say this is more entertaining to watch than Out of Bounds movement, skipping this guy. I haven't mentioned it yet, but it should be obvious: No
Morph Ball Invulnerability was used either. Again, i don't know much about Out of Bounds stuff like this, and walking blindly into the map station
looks frustrating and it wouldn't be cool anyways.

Sorry for the long post. But i think this is very worth it, i think this is really entertaining to watch.

FINAL NOTE: Even with Elgato Game Capture HD, i still have a minor problem with Metroid Prime 2: The audio is out of sync in my original recording.
I tried my best to fix this. It should be fine i think. Let me know if you guys think that the audio sucks in my video.

Bragging about how much more entertaining your video is than quad skip doesn't actually make it more entertaining fyi.

EDIT: Also you haven't needed to blindly go into a map station for morph ball invulnerability in a while, and you don't need to do any form of light show cancel either. You don't even need IS.

"The first form is tough when you are unlucky and when Quadraxis times his charged Annihilator Beam attack badly" well if you know how the fight works, he shouldn't be using any annihilator shots the entire fight... especially with extra light ammo. good job though. Would be nice if you didn't keep implying how uninteresting/boring OoB is and stuff though <_<
erifeci
So it's a boss challenge that is heavily relying on rng and precise positioning and shots...Fusion eyedoors? I kid. Nice job.

what is wrong with you people
m2k2 is slowly deteriorating into just memes
"I dare say this is more entertaining to watch than Out of Bounds movement, skipping this guy."

welp
OK,OK,OK.

I apologize. I did not know you people were so sensitive. I did not want to insult anybody, i was just saying my honest opinion.
I was merely trying to put emphasis on the fact that this video is different. Not Out Of Bounds stuff, like it is modern nowadays, but old school stuff.

I changed my post back to what it originally looked like, so everybody can see it.

your post is fine. don't worry about all the stuck up prime nerds
I just didn't see why it was necessary to make all the shots at how OoB is less entertaining and stuff like that when it's not directly related to your video :S but whatever, it's fine

I exclusively do out of bounds and think this is absolutely amazing in terms of gameplay and is much more impressive than 6% quad skip with morph ball invulnerability (which i have done a number of times). Very well done
Anywhere, everywhere
Nice!

I had just kinda assumed that the spider ball track at the end would eat up too much time to keep the whole thing from happening, but that's great that it can be done.
secret worlds are cheating. These skip large amount game and you will always find new secret wolrds and route will always changed. Also wall crawls skip much interesting tricks and its not look cool see when someone jumping outsite screen most of the time. I personally like watch much more speedruns without used secret worlds because these speedruns are real.
I mean he made a dumb comment in the first post for sure, but all you guys who are just posting memes are just being morons.

Neat video. IMO doesn't beat wallcrawling Dark Aether without the Dark Suit though.
MP2 also a bit MP1 speedrunning
I think skipping quad in this situation is much harder than actually fighting it.

Me too.
Eh skipping him doesn't really have a huge luck factor, like fighting him does. Especially with no e-tanks/dark suit, health drops matter even more, and the direction he floats in for phase 3 (50-50) has to be perfect for both bomb slots or else you're dead :/

That is actually not true. Of course it is nicer if he moves towards you after being stunned (like he did both times in my video) but it is still very possible to beat him even if he moves away from you, it just makes the timing of picking up the energy refill, then rolling towards the next spider track he will reach harder, but i had good attempts or even killed him even when he wasn't "moving nicely". That is what you meant, right? The luck part is the Refills, i prefer to have at least 2 Golden Energy refills both after defeating the second form and after landing the first hit on the third form. The hardest part is usually right after landing the first hit on the third form. You will probably be at fairly low energy, but right after unmorphing, you may not immediately see where the refills are - especially if you are unlucky and if they got stuck high up in the air. While trying to desperately get the energy refills, you might accidentally suck up all 3 refills at once, because you can't see where they are. This will result in death. This problem did not occur in the video, i still had a Golden Refill left from before and just walked straight into it. Then, after you kill him, you also want Energy Refills close to you or else you die. The energy spawned far away from me in the video, but still straight ahead. If they would have spawned far to my left, so i wouldn't have seen them immediately, i probably would have died.

I never said that fighting Quadraxis is harder than skipping it by the way, i only said it's cooler, so i don't know why MrSpEeDrUn suddenly came up with that topic.
By the way, did any of you who made the difficulty comparison actually try out both things before saying what's harder? Fighting and skipping under these conditions?

I am glad that a few people found the video nice, thanks for the comments!

You did start the comparison, though.  And you did it in a way that puts people on the defensive.

it's a fucking video game, there's nothing to "defend"

yall are kinda being dicks to this poor guy. all he did was record something he thought was cool

he kind of implied he thinks people who wallcrawl Quadraxis are pussies. IMO it's a dumb comment and I get why people were annoyed by it. It doesn't really excuse flooding the thread with shitposts though.

i know people get upset when others don't agree with their opinion on games (lol), but it really doesn't matter. the thread is about the video. who cares what he (or anyone else) thinks about wallcrawling.

plus he clearly said he doesn't know much about wallcrawling. so he's a relative newb to echoes speed running, doesn't know much about oob, and just wanted to make a cool boss fight video he had never seen anyone do before. i think that's really great. i don't see anything in his post that remotely resembles calling anyone a pussy for wallcrawling. that's just yall's egos talking.
I don't disagree that the thread is about the video, but uhhh he kind of brought up wallcrawling comparisons in the first place. That's on him. Don't blame everyone else in the thread for responding.

Also I don't run Echoes, I don't think I've even done Quad skip without Varia. My ego has no stake in this, lol. If you don't read that into the part of his post that I quoted then alright, but I do.
