One shall stand, one shall ball.
And i think he can dish out twice as much damage as normal also.
Actually, he does 100 damage on normal and 200 damage on hard. Talk about pain...
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yay two E-Tanks per hit!
Wouldn't 200 damage on hard be four e-tanks? I thought they were 50 apiece in that mode.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Well, 2 'squares' of energy.  Since it takes 2 etanks to fill up one 'square' to 99.
Time bomb set get out fast!
So let's see... he's twice as hard with 100%, he probably has twice as much HP on Hard, your weapons only do half the damage on that setting, his attacks do twice as much to you, and you have half the available health... so Mecha Ridley on 100% Hard is already 32 times harder than on Normal, and that's not even counting your reduced arsenal.  I'm somewhat less annoyed with myself now. :)
Your weapons do the same damage on hard.
I'll be back. Maybe...
On 100% Mecha Ridley has 3 times as much health and his attacks are twice as powerful.
One shall stand, one shall ball.

Oh yeah, crazy Hard mode.
Time bomb set get out fast!
Another personal record -- I just got my first sub-hour ZM game.  I finished at 0:49:59 with 35% (on Normal).  I used all the speed tricks I can pull off... an annoying exception being the Skip Acid Worm trick, Power Grip version, which I tried over and over but couldn't do.  Anyone got some advice for that one?  Making that whole detour to kill the acid worm cost me more than three minutes, even with two Super Missiles to speed up the fight.
2 Super Missiles on normal there? I usually have 4 of them. Since that allows super fast Kraid kill. But for the skip acid worm trick with power grip, just roll out of the edge, press up twice and then left, and when at the last one, lay 4 bombs to hold you up while you move to the left, and if you have to, quickly unmorph and grab the ledge, be sure to save just before going down there though.

I'm wondering if it would be faster to do the Acid Worm skip in a 100%, then go back there and kill it with supers later for the items there?

Normally, so do I -- but after I got the one to the left of the long drop room just before Ridley, I forgot to go back for the one on the right.  I was kicking myself for the rest of the run, believe me.

Hmm... all 4 bombs?  The page said two, but if four helps, I'll certainly try it.  What do you mean about pressing up, though?  Between the block and the ceiling, that doesn't do anything.

Scarlet: I bet it would, at that.  Getting to the area would be faster too, since you'd have a stronger beam to trash the enemies in the way.  The catch is that you'd have to use the horizontal bomb jump method for skipping him.

Nah, would end up costing time in the long run. Aside from being forced to bomb jump across the acid pool, you'd also be missing the missile expansion in the room with the 4 morph ball launchers, plus having to save up and extra shine just to get back through the rio room after Kraid.
I used to disagree with dragondarch, but when I heard about the morphball launchers tank,I now agree.
everybody knows it's true
is easy mode allowed for speed runs?

100%: 01:01:28

Not too bad, right?
Did you make a mistake, because those times are awesome if you ask me.
To mr. aran: You can do easy mode, but I don't think it's allowed on Archive.

No, it's perfectly legal. It's a seperate category, just like Hard.
So you can make a vid of an easy mode speed run, and then Archive would accept it and I would get the WR because no one speed runs easy?:)
red chamber dream
I think so. Although if it wasn't a good time period, they might not take it, since it would be so long. Either way, I doubt it'd gain much respect.
Well, I guess they're okay.
But with Red Scarlet and Dragondarch just a few posts behind mine, I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to say they were good.
lol no way
If someone were to present a time on Easy mode that wouldn't be very hard to beat, I would probably beat it just because I can... I know that makes me a dickhead or whatever, but I suppose I'm used to that about now. Go on, hate me.

Heh, well, that's what you get when you make a record... competition. That's why records are kept in the first place.

SDA won't take a run if it A) is deemed to not be very good, B) the capture sucks (webcam, et al.) or C) It breaks the rules in ways that don't just get time penalties.
