Low% Normal Run:
29%.....Inferno_Metroid.......2:28.....NTSC.....no sequence breaking

Thanks inferno_metroid, that's a very great time  Laughing

You haven't seen my times apparently, those are slow...
I run this here hotel of an evening
best any % would be 1:57 - 46%

and

Edit: whee!!! new best frigate escape is 4:16:36 (two whole seconds better! w00t!)

i'm in the midst of doing a better run, but it's taking awhile. you'll all be dead from either old age or the apocalypse, whichever comes second, hehe, by the time i finish it. i'll survive the apocalypse, saved by the magical pheasant that won't get out of the road. i should shut up now, before you all begin to think i'm crazy.
i hate the frigate.

oh, want a challeng: do what i did and go tohrough the escape with only about 25 energy (just shoot the pirates with a missile, then wait, and blast them). its quite pointless, but it makes you feel good for some reason.
I just arrived in phazon mines in 1H08 (without early space jump)
I hope I will have a good time.

That's a pretty nice escape time.

thanks, but it's still not near the best. the best, if i'm not mistaken, is like 4:29:some odd milleseconds.

Magical Pheasant!
Hi everyone

I discovered (I'm not sure but I think) another way to go to the grapple beam room from the main quarry. Well, it's a little useless but for people who can't scan dash or dash jump (like me) it could be great.
I made a video (bad quality). I play in PAL version

I'm worse than Skreemaster, my best it 23:xx and any other runs are left unfinished at over 8 hours.....

well then you've got nothing on me. I beat the game with about 24-25hours clocked that was my  first run. My other runs aren't doing to badly though. Im getting better. My one run I think i'm going to OP and i've only got 3-4 hours clocked on that one. :D
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Wow, suddenly I feel better, though I have a wierd habit of not finishing runs after my first one, probably because I went for 100% on my first time through and it kinda burns me out. I've stared several runs after the first one and just stopped after pulling off all the SBs that I'm good at.
I run this here hotel of an evening
a lot of my runs die the same way.....
1:51 31% normal. I just can't stop playing around with all the new fun things. Btw, I picked up 1 energy tank, (The one behind Omega) and 30 missiles, (can't remember which ones.) and boostball, charge beam 12 artifacts, that makes... 21%. morph, SJ, bombs, power bombs, 3 beams, Varia, X-ray, Thermal.

Is there anything I can skip if I want to try speedrunning sometime? I'm thinking of skipping a missile pack, and I know which, but if there's anything else that makes the run go faster?

And one last thing, how do you do the "Frigate crash site dash"? I currently can't do anything harder than the Thardus dash in dash way, well, I think I do everything else in dashing except that one. I don't know how to bend and alike with dashes, so...  :/
I find the Crash Site dash is much easier if you use the sap sac hanging off the branch that you're standing on. If you dash off that, you just need to push a lot of bottom-left to bend it and use your space jump late. With some practice, this should be easier than the Thardus dash.
I run this here hotel of an evening
i currently can't do the crash site dash, thardus dash, or climbing the observatory with that one dash (can't seem to get enough height) when going backwards. for the crash site, i simply grapple to the other side and climb it there. for the thardus dash, i perform the uber hard trick (ok, not really) of beating thardus, since it forces me into the battle. and as for the observatory? well, since i fall through the platform thingie holding the super missle as soon as i pick it up, i have to go back up the normal way. however, i kill the pirates by the save door and the computer is then scannable, leaving the other pirates to run around and look good, which they fail at
I've never killed Thardus on my 0-00 copy. :P

Well, I don't know how to bend dashes, when I look at videos, they often turn around, but when I try that, the dash just stops and I fall down to the bottom of the lake, or something like that. I really don't know how to bend a dash, but once I learn how to do that, I might consider doing a speed run. With some practice, and no playing around like I always do, I might get under 1:30, I got somewhere ~1:40 just now, but as always I just play around.

Btw, if it's not too "off-topic", could someone tell me which items to get (mostly which missiles) for a faster "run", I skipped a missile pack and went through with 25 this time, and it didn't seem to slow me down. I'm not in the mood to look at kip's 1:04, I can't watch a whole speed run before I get tired and start doing other things, since I don't know what items he gets, or in which segment to look.
everybody knows it's true

Curving dash jumps is simple. Just push up for up and down for down. Nothing else.

What I do is I grab the missile next to the Charge Beam Room, grab the etank in the room next to the second Phendrana elevator, and skip Grapple beam and Thardus/Spiderball. 28% for ya.
I go with 99 energy until I reach Omega pirate, or after it.

Like I wrote earlier this topic, I've never beat Thardus on my game.

And I'm not out after lowering my %, I wanna know what items are the fastest.
22% +

Missile Expansion (Watery Hall Access)
Charge Beam
Boost Ball
Missile Expansion (Overgrown Cavern)
Missile Expansion (Life Grove Tunnel)
Thermal Visor

Total: 28%
Ideal: 1:04 (probably more like 1:02 but we're not robots)

i'm a robot....just what is the thermal visor used for besides prime form 2? i mean in a speed run, such as kips 1:04, not what it's actually meant for. wait, did kip even pick that up?
yes kip picked up thermal visor. He used it against prime didnt he?
It's used for the 3 pool Prime2 kill. My last "segment" usually takes like 10 minutes anyway, so I suck. :P In-game time that is.

So you mean skipping the energy tank after Omega is faster? Does it really add any time?
