I'm not sure how known this is but I've not seen it in runs or on the forums anywhere. It might be useless but I thought I'd post it anyway :p

I cut the video as short as possible but I can leave it for a few frames, or if someone wants the full 5 minute clip with failures(?)

You have to remove the "s" from "https" for Youtube links.

It's slower for TAS. The difference was 6 frames when I tested it just now, though I didn't test very exhaustively so that figure may be off slightly.

Whether it's faster in real time will probably depend on the person. Trying in real time on emu, I was consistently 3-5 frames faster just jumping up each ledge, but I don't play very well on emu so that doesn't mean much. If nothing else, the wall jump looks cool. (Maybe aj used it in one of his old runs? That seems like something he'd have done.)

Edit: So it looks like aj tried and failed it in his 30:22 any%; he wall jumped a bit late and didn't get enough height to land on the top ledge. He might've done it in other runs too, but I'm not about to search through all of them. :P

I tried it very slightly in TAS and couldn't get it very fast, obviously I'm a very noob TAS'er though. Ah I must have missed that. Nah that's fine :p

It's in the spotlight now, I've found another one after you kill the charge worm, but I'll need to test it a little bit more.

It's way slower in TAS conditions. The wall-jump animation is takes ages, and pure jumps give Samus a faster initial velocity
It's certainly faster for RTA though, at least I could help somehow :)
Not to be an ass or something, but it's certainly not faster for RTA either. They're pretty much equal, walljumping being a few frames slower than good jumps.

It just really depends on the runner. If the runner has optimal jumps, then walljumping isn't worth it; otherwise sure, go for it.
Yes it was definitely faster for me, but I get far from optimal jumps. It adds another way to start then I guess.
This is something that ajbolt used to do in some of his runs. I might have seen it elsewhere, but aj was the king of unnecessary fancy wall-jumps.
