rules

single battle, 3 pokemon each, "flat rule" (if a pokemon is over level 50 it gets auto-leveled to 50)
generation 5 pokemon only
no legendaries (see ban list)
no using bag items (pokemon may hold items of course)
no hidden/dream world abilities
species clause - limit of 1 pokemon of a particular species per team
sleep clause - can't put more than one of your opponent's pokemon to sleep at the same time
evasion clause - can't use moves that solely raise your pokemon's evasion
ohko clause - can't use one-hit ko moves (fissure, horn drill, etc)

ban list

since there aren't any tier lists out there yet, we're just going to ban all legendaries and older pokemon. this includes:

all generation i, ii, iii, and iv pokemon
cobalion
genesect
keldeo
kyurem
landorus
meloetta
reshiram
terrakion
thundurus
tornadus
victini
virizion
zekrom

Hey I heard from Poision Envy that there would be a Pokemon B/W tournament. I just wanted to say that I would love to enter such a tournament. I would like to know kind of levels would be allowed to enter, is it just whatever happens to be in my party or will there be a restriction?

if your pokemon is over level 50 then it will automatically set it to 100 (or at least, that's how I assume it works)

I've got two teams above lvl 50 at this point since both my Black and White games have passed the Elite Four already. Might have to mix and match them to get a true competitive team together, but yeah, I guess you could say I'm interested in this. Can't remember the last time I was able to battle against another real person instead of the AI, so it could be quite interesting. I'll probably fail miserably, but I don't think I'll care if that happens.

And as far as I know, for the Battle Subway at least the game sets your Pokemon to level 50 regardless of what level they are. Can be 20, 40, 60, etc. and it puts you at 50 automatically. Could be the same depending on what mode you go with for Wi-Fi battles. Haven't done one in B/W yet so I have no idea how it works.

Instead of forcing everybody to grind, if people have some Pokemanz already above level 50, you could always just introduce an intermediate level cap, rather than just jumping to 100 just 'cause. Why not 75? Or 80?

you wouldn't have to grind to 100. the game auto-levels your pokemon to level 100, but i think only if they're above 50 in the first place (haven't actually tried a wifi battle on bw yet ...).

I know it's still a ways off, but I was suddenly wondering this morning what type of battles we'll be doing. I'm assuming 1V1 since that's the most simple and widely used system of the different types. (Single, Double, Triple, Rotational are the ones I can think of.)

Figure it doesn't hurt to ask since it might influence what some people do with their teams.
