You are correct about all of what you said in your first 2 paragraphs. I didn't feel like you were disrespecting him purposely its just the way you were saying it is all. I also don't mean to come off disrespectful to you if that is what you maybe thinking. You also have to account the fact that Hotarubi's run is almost 2 years old. Many things have changed. Also its not like your bad at Boss Fights its just he is more consistent with them is all. That and I feel you also have bad luck with Bosses sometimes.

I'm talking about the actual room the Kung-Fu Hunter's are in. Just go to the very right edge of the screen and shoot a Charged Plasma/Wave and its open. I'm not sure if it would help speed wise but, you can do it is all. I wonder if its faster to fly through that room at full speed.

Yea I saw it to and it was awesome. Its not that slow to drop a Power Bomb there because you could drop it coming out from the sand pit.

LOL. I don't know about the PAL version but, I'll explain what I do on NTSC. I stand in the middle of the dead crab claws by the poll. I hit Draygon with 4 Super Missiles. The last Super Missile I aim straight up and let him hit me. Then I ball up when he/she leaves the screen and go to the part where the left poll breaks off and I drop a Power Bomb and then I stand and its 2 Round time. There are very few times it doesn't work. Honestly its very rare I miss it!

I can understands people bemusement at me saying I would beat him, even though I'm on a different version. It really isn't meant to come across so arragant like that. And no I understand and you don't come across disrespectful to me. Only I'm anoyed at myself for how I may have potentially portrayed myself over the 4 or so months I've been on my topics posting stuff.

I been practicing the trick of my video on console and yea I'm learning to lay a power bomb earlier. This is quite cool and the trick isn't so hard.

I'll try that draygon thing. That's so random lol...... I take it it's....... rare that it fails.

I dont't think too much has changed in the two so years since his last runs. I'd say more has changed for 100% runs really. But there are other things that have definatly changed for any%. He could try a metroid skip for a any% run now if he wanted to.

It's unfortunate in my runs you've all seen contain poor boss battles. Really I don't make such a mess of them in practice. At least not all the time.

erm... kung fu hunters?. explain to me what they are. do you mean the pirates that throw the sticks and kick you?. If so, do you mean then that the door that's usually closed can be opened straight away from a wrap around glitch?

I know you have respect for him its just sometimes when comparing you make certain comments that could be interpreted as disrespectful. Honestly I know how you don't mean to disrespect its just happens on forums to a lot of people. Its not like your saying hes bad at the game and your better. Don't even stress it.

Nice!!! Its really cool. I have to practice it later.

I don't think it would work on PAL but, try it. Then try it on NTSC to confirm.

I wouldn't use the word poor. Its like I said its sometimes just random. It could be your thinking about it too much or you could be slightly fatigued and lose a little bit of concentration. Nerves, I can go on because if your not having trouble in practice then it could be any of those. Maybe your not as practiced as you may have though. How many times in a row do you practice certain Bosses?

Yea that's exactly what I was referring to. LOL. I always called them that for some reason. You just have to Angle Up after you kill them and Charge a Plasma/Wave on the ground before the door. Don't stand on the block before the door. Anyway I'm not sure if it would really be beneficial though.

yea written words don't convey messages across properly. If I could say all my stuff I've said in person it wouldn't come across like that. Sometimes I type my stuff in a rash way in case I forget it and things prbably look like I'm bellitteling other players. This of course is not the case !

Yea I've seen full blown argumants on forums and youtube with swearing left right and centre. From an outsiders perspective it's so pointless to get that worked about silly things like that. It's funny to watch them at it though.

On the bosses I've practiced on draygon once about 30 times in a row when I was figuring out how to the shinespark killing method for my old 34 any%. About the same for phantoon. I'm certainly not fatigued during a run. (apart from 100% runs near the end) but I think it's just coincidence that the runs you've seen contain less than brilliant bosses. But the run itself was good.

I see what I can do about the kung fu hunters room. See if I can get any ideas flowing for possible fast strategies.

Welcome to forums I say to people. Things get misinterpreted all the time.

Your runs are excellent. I wouldn't worry too much about your Boss Fights. If you say you don't have trouble in practice then it shouldn't matter at all.

I personally like what you do in the Kung-Fu Hunter's room. I just wanted to give you some food for thought is all.

cheers man. I just want to do the best for this game on this version. pushing it too it's limits and all that. It's incredibly rewarding.

It's strange, the kung fu fuckers room wouldn't let me shoot the door from that position. O well

You have to crouch now that I think of it.

Yea tried that it diddn't work.

About the power bomb laying for the trick you saw me do in maridia. I realised you could actually get hurt by the creatures coming out of the sand on purpose instead of laying a power bomb so that your invulnerability will let you pass the spiky creature in the floor.

Quote from Giganotabehemoth87:
this video I'm ataching to this post is a trick which i've been meaning to do for some time on console.

Nice trick! I've seen this before in TAS but didn't bother to try it in real time. Think i'll have to try more the TASers tricks in real time.

Also about the Mockball and jumping to the backtrack in krayd's area to get the powerbomb, i managed to do it but it's a little hard to shoot the Super exactly on the block you need to be destroyed, as you are traveling in the air. I found that it's safer and easy if you after the door transition, hold L or R (default settings) to completly stop Samus, so you duck and shoot a super, run and do a mockball followed by a jump with the spring ball to reach the plataform. Although it's not as fast as yours, at least is a little safer.

Quote from lxx4xNx6xxl:
Its not the shot followed by a Shine Spark nor is it the 2nd Shine Spark. It really the 3rd that's really hard.

The third shinespark is only hard to pull off because Draygon spit gunks on you while charging the spark. The method i use is to hit the fire button for each time i press the run button when charging the spark, so the shots clean the way. But this trick is really hard to pull off.

Quote from lxx4xNx6xxl:
I personally don't like Sparking Draygon because of its inconsistencies of the damage it gives sometimes.

Yeah, the third shinespark is the most bothering thing because even after dead, Draygon still damages samus a lot as you can see in this run. I only do this trick because i have lots of energy tanks as this trick can be done on an any% run but due to this damage inconsistency it's not recomended on a console, although it saves tons of time in the shinespark with the blue suit, and saves your supers that speed up the fight with Ridley. I made a Reatime any% TAS that is somewhere in the site, the final time was 29 IIRC. But there is some new tricks found that could implement this run.

Quote from Giganotabehemoth87:
With reeves method (having screw attack) he isn't boosting, but is traveling faster so he has to use the screw attack to kill the bats, which in turn means shooting the door later, hense he only just managed to get through the door as it's still opening. So it's an incredibly risky trick when done this way. Probably impossible on PAL.

I was lucky there. It seems your way is a safer way to save some time, although as i pointed before, on a console run i would charge the spark on the lava and release it in the pre-Ridley room.

LOL. What I meant about when I said the damage and its inconsistencies. I was referring to the damage inflicted on Draygon.

Never mind Behemoth you don't crouch I have an .smv file for you. You need to use the latest version of the SNES9x.

Also if the door is metal it won't work.

lol (2). This is no problem to me, but what i said about the damage that Draygon causes on Samus is really annoying.

I did manage to get the wrap around in the kung fu hunters room in the end. I stood a little bit further back I think. But I can't see any use for it yet. Although it would be fantastic if it worked on the door if it was metal. I'll watch the vid you attached anyway.

In the meantime I did a bit of wrap around hunting on zebes and I came across this one which is also in norfair. This has probably been found before but I think my video shows how it could be useful potentially, but it would only save time on a minor scale.

About the neat trick you did in Maridia, i tried it myself and it's quite easy to do, i didn't trainned it much and i'm already very consistent on doing it. Found a way to do faster than landing the power bomb, the video is below. You can see it in Snes9x 1.43 v17 with the NTSC version of the game.

The change: If you scroll the screen to the left till the enemy apears he will desapear when you begin to charge the shinespark. If he didn't desapear, he will be going to the left of the screen so you just have to shoot and Samus will destroy him. Quite easy, and faster than landing the power bomb and waiting for it to explode.

Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
On a slightly different note, Giga, I recall you asking about boss health and weapon damage a while back.  Not sure how useful it'll be with your tactics already working out, but P.J. posted links to them both here if you're still interested.

I knew I'd seen them somewhere, and even checked TASvideos.  I obviously just missed it! aiwebs_014

Now here is the neat trick variation. As we have to pass through this place two times and in the first we don't have the spring ball to get the itens. Think it's a little faster than the usual way. This trick is done the same way as if you had the springball, you have to press the same buttons.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I also forgot to mention that, if you're interested, there is a patch available that changes the in-game timer from hours and minutes to minutes and seconds.  It'd be unacceptable for a legit run (for now), but might help in getting to know how close to some of the minutes you are during emulated runs.

Now that sounds interesting. If I get the patch would that mean I'd have to do those TAS's again (which isn't a problem) to see the time in minutes and seconds as I want to. or will minutes and seconds be displayed with the movies allready done on my computer?

Cool about the damage properties. I knew they were somewhere too. It even lists ice-spazer-plasma. Which is space time beam isn't it?. and phantoon takes 4 supers? I really thought it was 5 for some reason.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
They should display OK, as it's just a few bytes of data being altered, and shouldn't affect the outcome, although it'll probably tell you it's a 'BAD ROM' upon loading.

Either way, here's Lunar IPS, to apply the patch, and here's the patch itself.  Bear in mind that this is designed for an unheadered (JU) ROM, and may not work with the PAL version - I haven't tried it.

Hope it helps!

Quick question. How do you keep the Echos on the neat trick file?

For the neat trick to get the Missile and Super Missile you need the spring ball. After mockballing, wait for the right time and than jump with the springball and quicly hold up while still holding jump.

In the other trick when going down, after mockballing, wait for the right time and just press and hold up till Samus break all the speed blocks.

That's what I thought. Damn that's just a hard trick then.
