The absence of music for most of the game actually serves to accentuate the music when it's there. Other M!Ridley's Theme is easily the most awesome version of the song to date. That piano theme that sometimes plays on the title screen is also nice. So while the nonexistence of the soundtrack is not a good thing in and of itself, and while I don't ever want to see it happen again, it worked out all right in this case.
OK, before you start asking for an Other M soundtrack, I should create a list of all notable themes. Its more than you think.
*Vs. Ridley *Nightmare/Goyagma Battle *Queen Metroid/Phantoon Battle *Stage 23 (Plays after Adam's death) *Approaching MB (Plays while heading toward Sector Zero while the Metroid stalks you) *Desbrachian Battle *Main Theme (Title) *Alternate Title Screen *Vorash Battle *Briefing (Theme of Super Remix... but it doesn't include the trumpet section) *Staff Roll *Rhedogian Battle (Debatable) *Mystery Creaturee Battle
They probably would have names like Battle 13 and Stage 25 so you'd have to look up what corresponds to what. Though you could just go do a youtube to MP3 conversion.
Never ceases to amaze me how everyone can think so differently about the same thing. I happen to like the sounds (music if you will) in the game - especially in Sector 3. The other piece that sounds great is walking into the Biological Experiment Room (I think this is the correct name)... the room where Samus runs up the circle ramp and drops down to fight the needle-nose wasps.
The battle with Phantoon ranks as one of the best - the fight itself is great (with all that breaking glass) and the music is outstanding.

Eh... the first is ambient IIRC. The second is somewhat ambient. And I already mentioned the third one.
