So for the short time that some people may have had with the game so far (I'm still in the middle of downloading up, having updated my PAL Wii firmware), what do you think?

Is it better than MP2? Do the controls really work like they should? Is it any fun to play?
Thread title:
everywhere I called in my state says its comming on the 28th, not the 27th.  yet my friend in another state has it.  DAMN THEM!
Looks like I won't be getting it until tomorrow at this rate, since it's almost 5PM and it hasn't come in the mail yet.
I just landed on Bryyo. It has the true Metroid-feeling: alone on an alien-planet with lots of ways to go and locked doors. Imo the game really starts here. The first hour was very linear and FPS-ish, but not Bryyo. Oh, and it looks so beautiful!

Controls were a bit confusing at first, but now I love them. Don't bother with the Standard setting, go with the Advance sensibility. It works perfect!
I hate utah!!!! Why can't I get it today.
Definitely seems a lot better than echoes. Although I wasn't feeling the first section linearity. But now I'm at a part where I have two objectives instead of just one! (Two separate locations you have to go to.)  I'm hoping there might be some room for SB here...
I'm very much enjoying this so far, I just got

Grapple swing

and don't know where to go now.  BUT, I'll find the way =)

This isn't a spoiler, but I don't like how the force hint mode upon you!!!
Anywhere, everywhere
I love this game so far.

Bryyo is freakin amazing! I love it!

<---------Where's the Prime 3 option?!&!#^%!#%^!^

Now, I shall leave this forum until I beat the game....
Love the game so far. The opening area with all the random data and Fed people walking around was pretty nice. The opening of the game was pretty unique.
Love how you can mess with some random buttons in your ship  grin new
I'm having difficulty adjusting to the controls so far.  I'm also playying on veteran so hopefully I get the hang of it soon.

I found the controls to have no learning curve whatsoever.  It all feelsiincredibly natural.

The ship and Norian were cool, the Ridley battle was amazing, and the new pirates are awesome, and I love the fact that they have both wireframes and models for scans.

Just landed on Bryyo.

Beautiful.  THIS is how you do a 3d alien environment.

how close to the telly are you? for me I knew the controls would be skiddish if I was too close to the tv so I pulled my chair way back and popped my contacts in and it's been a smooth ride the whole way.

I just now realized that I've been doing all sorts of strafing and crazy stuff without even thinking about it. Love the controls.
I had trouble at first with the controls too. The fact that you turn when pointing left/right was annoying at first, but you get used to it after awhile. I tried the controls without "lock on" (I think it's called free aim?) but that was too much for me to handle :P Maybe I'll come back to this later on if necessary.

Game feels great, you get sucked right in the action. Just landed on Bryyo, but the planet looks great!
My biggest complaint is that the grapple beam mechanics feel gimmicky and overused. Otherwise it's been a pretty enjoyable ride so far.
when you jump and grapple beam a point and move the joystick lef or right before the beam actually hits the target it misses, has this always happened this way in metroid prime games?

I have just one thing to say.

Rundas's battle theme is one of the greatest Metroid songs ever.

So far I'm enjoying this game A LOT. But I can tell right now that there's most likely no way it can surpass the magic of Metroid Prime. But it's already left Echoes in the dust in my opinion. Wink (But I still like all three of them, don't get me wrong.)

And they said they were trying to make it easier this time around... NOT! Although, I am playing Veteran, so who knows if that's true or not on Normal. I would suggest playing Veteran for anybody who hasn't started yet and wants a real challenge from the game.
i'll be playing on veteran. only way i stand a chance of getting anything out of the game imo.

I feel the same, on both points that is.

MP3 is by far better than Echoes, although not as beautiful as Prime, and I'm finding this game (on veteran) quite challenging.

Prime Hunter, this similarity of thoughts between us is getting...awkward isnt it?:P

Oooh! Was he responding to el padrino or me?

You decide.
From what I've heard so far, the music is relatively disappointing... no new Ridley theme remix, the new pirate song isn't as cool as MP2's, the music generally sounds the same as the first two games... the only songs I really enjoyed was the title theme and Rundas battle theme, which was catchy, if not as cool as some of MP1's boss music (Thardus).
I really prefer the music in prime 3 to the other twos music.
I thought I heard the Phazon Mines music in there during the Bryyo fire area.

And Ark, you just had to try and pin my response to what you said, didn't you? Wink
