But this is all just my take on the purpose of the game, and it could easily be wrong.

Of course it is.  Hunters is, online and off, an abortion.

Okay, WE GET IT. You think the game sucks. At this point it's gone beyond adding to the conversation and entering just plain trolling.
Bangaa Bishop
It's a metroid game if it has metroid in the title. Living up to the title may be another story, however.

Well, yes and no. Technically, the CD-i Zelda games are Zelda games, but no one counts them in the normal line of Zeldas. The same could hold true with Hunters, though I think enough people like it to count it as a legitimate title in the series.

Well, theoretically speaking, all you folks who like the game are trolling me! aiwebs_018

I weep, Yoshi.  I weep.

Seriously though, you've made your point, and now you're just being disruptive by posting how much Hunters sucks every other post.

Oh, come now, fair Yoshi!  I've made but four posts in this massive twenty-nine post thread...
...er...five, thirty?

Dammit, man...You so bait me. aiwebs_006

Hunters is awesome!
red chamber dream
13M13, that's enough. Quit being an ass about it and shut up.
Metroid Prime Hunters has an awesome multiplayer mode, it just doesn't feel like a Metroid game. It's kind of like Metroid Pinball, in that it's entertaining but isn't exactly the Metroid you remember. It tries to mimmick Metroid Prime with the scan visor and setup but it's still so different. The power bomb is a big one they could've included. Not to mention the screw attack or spider ball, just to name a few.
Ridley!
I can't believe they left out the High Jump or the other suits, etc. The Power Bombs were awesome! Maybe they thought that Power Bombs would make the game too easy. And dying from pistons or falling into outer space etc. In the other Prime games you would just be warped back to where you were before you fell of the edge and you would just take some damage from the pistons.
and this is relvent to the 'no metroids' topic how?

It's related to things people are disappointed not to see.
Did you notice? There are flashy videos for all the bosses and all that crap. IMO, they should've just used real cutscenes with the ingame graphics. They would've had alot of space left over to use improving single player. Sadly, single player was an afterthought. IIRC, this is the one Metroid game that has no metroids of any form and doesn't give Samus a single new suit. She wears her varia suit from start to end. How weak is THAT?
Wow! You have to be the first person  to notice that there were pre-rendered movies in that game! Obviously those are the only reason there was any design faults in that game whatsoever!

By the way its really cool how you have sources in Nintendo that told you what was and what wasn’t the main focus of the game. I never would have guessed Single was an afterthought, what with three of the five planets having the second halves fairly well integrated with the first. No metroids either?  How can it be called metroid?
*points to signature*

One benefit of that toxic brainfart is that it means there is a Metroid in this game.

Just sayin'.

Meanwhile, I can still locate my Hunters game but my Pinball one has been missing for months. Somehow I wouldn't be as pissed off if it were the other way around.

Where are the Metroids? This is the only game of the entire series I know of that lacks the Metroids. Those dog-like creatures that leech your health just aren't Metroids.

honestly i think in this game the metroid just got ripped apart and now we have instead those dog-like things that suck out your helth and those annoying space jellies were you blast one and POOF! another pops up.

...the hell?
talking about those things on arcterra i think.
Yeah, that's them.
Metroid Prime: Hunters did not suck.

End of story.
red chamber dream
In your opinion. I agree with you, but still, there's no way that's the "end of story", as tons of people hate the game.

Anyway, yeah, I hate those Arcterra leeches or whatever they are. Enemies that respawn immediately should not exist in any game imo; it's one of the cheapest tricks in the book. At the very least, they could have made those things Metroids instead; it would have made perfect sense.
Okay, it's true that the most frequent enemies like the Ambillic Turrets and the little floaty and rolly thing were... retarded. But it had it's share of good enemies, such as the Crash Pillar and Shriekbats.

...am I the only one who gets the impression that all of the artistic talent went into designing the hunters and the architecture rather than the conventional enemies and bosses?
of course it did. it was never supposed to have single player.
Bangaa Bishop
It started as a multiplayer game;, that's the main reason the single player didn't turn out so well. That said, I enjoyed the game as a whole and I think it's mostly people comparing it to GCN prime that causes the view of the game by players to be weak.
red chamber dream
It's weird that I have barely played the multiplayer (and didn't like what of it I've played) but liked the single-player a good bit.

It's also weird that "multiplayer" is one word yet "single-player" is hyphenated.

i've always typed both as one word really. Maybe it has something to do with flow. "multi" is really a prefix and flows together with player well. single is an independent word and doesnt really mesh well with player (imo) so it needs the hyphen. Or something. I don't know, it's just a thought.
