Okay, what does M2k2 think? READ THE TOPIC BEFORE VOTING! [locked]

For those of you who don't know (ie. weren't on IRC when I complained royally). My 8 month old SP's R button is broken. So you tell me what I should do.

NOTE: No misuse was involved in the damaging. It just.... happened.

Let me give the pros and cons of each as well.

1- Probably least amount of money. Everything stays the same until it breaks again.

2- I can get a better color. I bought a Cobalt one a week before the Ruby and Onyx ones came out. I want Onyx.

3- I can play MP, Windwaker, SC2, whatever, but it's liable to royally piss my parents off.

Did you get your SP with any kind of extended warranty perhaps? Anything over $99 I buy I always take out a one-two year extended warranty.

I'd say if you had the cash to just get a Cube and another SP if you think you could deal with the brunt of your parents getting royally pissed.

But if it's an issue you wanna avoid, I'd just get another SP. I don't like refurbishing things as my history with refurbished items just isn't great. They tend to die a few months later.

So my final answer is: Another SP

Anyway, yeah, the Cube would be the best option if it weren't for that enigmatic "piss parents off". If that wouldn't pan out, I'd repair it assuming the cost is reasonable.

Actually, I would get a GBS secondhand; since you've already invested money in the SP, you could probably get a really good deal on a GBA and some accessories to make up for what the SP had. And save money.

BTW, I don't have an SP for this reason: one of my friends got and SP, and he had about three GBA lights, a GBA rechargeable battery pack, and a really cool GBA stereo speaker system that clips onto the back of the GBA. They were in usable but not sellable condition, so he just gave them all to me! I am now the proud owner of a GameBoy Advance SP that's slightly bulkier than what you normally see. :D

Nothing makes up for the backlight and battery charger, unless you do that crazy thing where you open up the gameboy and install the backlight from that one company.

Worm lights? Ha! They absolutely SUCK. They're nothing compared to a backlight, and they're generally not as battery efficent as the built in SP thingy.

my l/r keys have messed up where outa 100 clicks 0 work

i just press em for a while and then they work again

The L/R keys seem to be the first to go. A friend of mine ditched her old GBA just a week ago because of faulty L/R problems and my GBA is starting to not like its L/R buttons too :/ Looks like I'll be making the jump to SP sometime soon.

L/R keys are important because you need them to fire Missiles, Supermissiles, and powerbombs in MZM.

I would get GBP so you can use the GCN controller to play.

Hmm... this reminds me, my 1 year warranty's up this month. I'll have to get a brand new SP at EB, no questions asked.

I agree about wormlights, but I have one that runs on its own battery, one AAA. It's intensity-controllable, has a light sensor that will automatically turn it on and off as it's needed, and the battery hasn't run out yet.

It's not substitute for the SP remarkable compactness with all these features, but I think that ading these accessories for free makes it less-than-woth-my-while to pay $99 just for compactness. And I like being able to use regular batteries if I want to, especially on long roadtrips and such.
